Didn't I post this a week ago? Lol...or was that another forum?
Anyways, the real deal here is this. Yes. There will *ALWAYS* be a way around whatever they come up.
The scary part is this. They appended this onto the new anti-terrorism bill. Which will pass. If this passes, it opens the door widely for American liberties to be taken further away. It's a stepping stone. |

My guess is, they really only want to find a more effective way of shutting down file sharing networks, so they would only really be hacking the main servers of those filesharing services. Problem is.. once they get started where do they stop? Do they hack every LAN where files are shared?
Every bill has its loop-hole. Somebody will then find a way to legally hack our personal machines and not get in trouble.. |

you could have actually read some of it. it went on to say that they gave up adding it on to the anti-terrorism bill. |

bullshit.
"plz 2 b giving us hax access 2 ur computer k thnx bye" should sum it up quite well. what about the legit mp3's? hm? how can they know what's a pirated/whatever mp3 and what's not? how can they think anyone would just let someone like RIAA (or anyone else for that matter) snooping around your fucking hard drive?
note that i only quickly glanced at the article earlier today, so i might be missing quite a lot of crucial trivia about the deal.. but it's still ridiculous.
not to mention they really expect.. say, every isp in the world to re-organize and assemble their networks to remove nat's and whatnot? i doubt.
RIAA can ditch IP number system and come up with something better and fix it up globally, i won't mind..

Edible : Cool.
The article I read a week ago absolutely incensed me.
It had all types of quotes from major studio heads, and it drove the point home that it was tacked onto a bill that was golden.
Michael Eisner saying : Civil liberties are our biggest obstacle for the time.
Well, that got me pissed |

If anyone is interested, there is an organization that exists to defend civil liberties against this kind of bullshit:
http://www.eff.org
I haven't become a member just yet; I'm still watching to see if they become another ACLU. So far they seem pretty reasonable, though their lobbying power is far outmatched by the recording industry. |
