New image from me. I finished this about a week ago. I have no idea how many hours it took, but I can tell you, the number is pretty big. This was my first real try at a city. I wanted to finally draw on of these huge cities that are in this story line I've got. Those are my two main characters to the left.
I would really like some critiques on this. I know there are a lot of great veteran city designers on this forum.

Wow! Your work just gets better and better I think. I don't have any crits either, but I would like to ask how you made this! Just a design from your head I'm assuming? It's very creative and I've never been able to do city scapes that well...gorgeous!
I saw the chars in the corner before I read that part in your post. Nice touch! The mood is pleasing.
More please! |

I like the image a lot. Think it has a lot of potential.
I don't know if this is better, but I think you should grade it more, and also consider more atmoshpere. Hope you don't mind:
(These changes took 2 min, incl. paint work with a mouse. Don't ruin a superb image with bad grading. )
Great stuff Turokess!

Hey there,
NoRwoOd: Thanks a bunch. At least I got some mood across in the colors.
Merystic: Hi there, how are you? Yeah, this was totally out of my head, even though it didn't come out quite like I had pictured. The city looks a little to normal for me. I wanted it to have more of a fantasy edge to it. It took a week just to draw it. Then I rendered it in grayscale and put the color on over top of that. And there will be more shortly. Perhaps next weekend.
henrik: Thank you henrik, thank you. This is the kind of help I was looking for. You've made a lot of improvements in the atmosphere by making it look much more wet and rainy. I like the way you cropped it, too. I'll take all of your advice into consideration as I continue to work on this. Thanks! |

WELL DONE !!!
That's amazing.
I love the mix between fantasy and science fiction elements.
I am a big fan of your art!
My only crit ( and Im not sure if Im right at all ) would be: the horses on the left under the sheed - I think they are too bright.
wouldn't there be more darkness/shadow...
- max
Ps: henrik, this paintover is fabulous!!!

Wonderful!
My only crit is the choppers in the middle of the painting. they "seem" to big,.. don't know how to explain.. A great effect vould be to make em reeeeel small instead. For now, it seems that they are beyond the large building, and I suppose that is not your intention?! IF so, they are way to big.

Very nice, guuns and such look great istting there. Look like they belong. I dig good city art because of the planning it often takes. |

i agree with henrick..you should think about atmospheric. Its a night scene, so you have to focus on lights. Your city has some lights so make them more visible, think about blur, gloss etc...oh and a good thing would have been to think about depth, i mean with atmospheric. Your city is too sharpen. It's far so it has to be less detailed or at least saturated.
Those are just advices. Your work is really cool, but it can look even better |

I think the problem with this picture is:
1. Poor quality textures and lighting
2. Poor use of scale
Notice how the entire city fits in the view frame. This seems unnatural and more like a toy or game city. You need work on the FOV settings.
The modeling looks great. Did you model all of the elements?
Work on texture and lighting. |

I dont think there is anything wrong with it. The only reason the city ends in the view frame is cuase the exterior of it has a circular shape, right? |
