Nothing like finding an old image and seeing how much you've improoved eh? Thought this would be an inspirational thread, I sure was inspired when I came across an old image of mine. =] Looking forward to seeing how much you guys have.

The second picture is much better. But I think it could still use some work. The shading is excellent but your forms need work:

1. Refine your figure anatomy. It is very hard to get right and this is my problem. Figures don't usually have concave lines and the arm is too rubberish.

2. Watch your outlines. Get some HIGH quality comic art and try to make the inked line quality perfectly. ->> That is very hard to do on the computer and if anyone can help me with this then please show how! (I hate using paths and crap especially in shop but.. any suggestions!) There are a few places where line is broken and this hurts the painting.

3. Don't rush the background.

----

Anyway, I think your improvements are a great inspiration though! I hope that you see my comments as suggestions for further improvements and not critical of this work which isn't half bad.

Thanks for sharing.

No, no, thanks for the comments. I know how bad I am, and this isn't one of my better works, just one of the later works is all. =] Plus i had to get it done in one day, so that cut down on detail etc, but seriously thnak you so much for the feedback. It is hard to get anymore.

yeah... why not.

This could be embarrassingly funny... This is one of the first SF/Fantasy CGs I did on a computer... it's dated April, 1994

...and here's a recent one...

Some time in late '98 (my shock-horror-heinousness phase - JESUS GOD WHAT WAS I THINKING?) ...this is back in the day when I thought Render > Lens Flare was a legitimate method of shading in Photoshop, and basically knew SHITE about digital art:

This month:

EDIT - The old images are ink drawings coloured in PS, by the way. The new one is all Photoshop.

Arc: I like that last image looks very good.

Ok.. well here is one of my first works.. copy (from memory?)

And another from memory (Mullins original)

... And two of my more recent original works..

Main improvement for me has been going from doing copies even if from memory to doing original works that say more what I intend to say. But, I haven't made any works in the last year or so.. So, my next works I intend to be even better.. But guess have to wait and see.

This is something I think I must think of a lot of artist if they really intend to say what they want too or just too something that looks good because they have the technique to do that.. How many artist are true to themselves? And, how many copy because it is easy? And how many draw things that are not what they because they have the ability to draw those things?

... hmm...
