Great idea, a friendly looking soldier.
You can save a lot of time if you use Photoshop, when you've an outline. Then you fill the areas with their base color. After that, just use the dodge and burn tools for shading and the hightlighting.
Some parts still look a bit sketchy.

Hello,
Ok, let me say, if your feeling is this has reached your desired goal then I say a job well done.
You did a good job as I can see of drawing, though around the eyes I would add a little more detail as to define upper and lower lids of the eye and define the well for simplification "eyeball".
The Iris could use some defining as well, mainly a little Dark in it as to keep it from appearing to almost glow.
Ok, I took your piece into Painter 7 and studied it cloesely to determine at what stage it is at.
Now let me say again if you went as far as you intended from the start then there is no need of doing what I would sugest.
However, IMHO I would not say it is at the finishing stage. As a painter I would put it more at the dead layer, specifically the dead layer of an underpaitning.
At this point is where I would go and begin restating your darks and lights.
Might I sugest, take a close look at your darks for a start..... areas where cast shadow might be. Cast shadow is the Darkest shadow, as it is the absence of light.
Then, in Folds where it goes first from Darks to lights and you have concaved forms, rolls and such like. Here in these areas look for transitional tonal values.
Also reflective lights. This will assist you in making your clothing POP as I like to say.
Where clothing meets the skin such as in and around the sleeve entrance, look for darks on the skin.
These areas may have a dark Warm, or sometimes Dark cools in flesh tones because of cast shadow or absence of light that will make your detailing standout and look less flat and more realisitc or true to life.
In and around the colar areas again look for more cast shadow and reflective light.
Not only on the clothes but also on the skin surface.
Transitional tones, sort of like a gradient if you will, in areas where there is dark and light.
I prepared an example using your drawing, but I wont post it without your permission.
I get that from some of the other forums I visit as it is a rule there that one must ask.
Please let me finish by saying your drawing is a good one, and I dont want to leave without saying that the potential in your work shows great promise with a few added techniques to what is already a fine piece of work will only make your efforts shine.
I hope this is recieved in the spirit it is intended, as a help.
Humbly submitted,
Mark Branscum

Your Welcome,
and Here is the pic, I have cropped it but you will see the areas I did some sugested work.
Only to demonstrate which I hope it does, that there are more stages to offer still yet.
I like to call it my detailing stages, I hit some minor points I hope it gets the idea accross.
Mark
