LoTekK ,
Thanks for the support.
Less than one month to go now for the completion of all of our content. Beads of sweat are forming as the deadline draws closer. Here is this week's update. This is a piece done by Steve Burg, enjoy.

*Walks away, grabs this months club international, goes to the bathroom, begins the only thing I will be really good at*
Do the deadlines help or deture your work? |

If someone has asked this already, or if I have missed it, please forgive me. How may we (if possible) preorder this masterful puppy? Great work, 'nuff said. Thank you for posting this stuff here, Scott. |

I've been loving these up until now, but I have to say that last one doesn't quite work to the same level for me. It just feels a little but too 'Bryce+Poser', and the composition doesn't feel artistic (not that I could readily explain why).
For the purpose of conceptualisation it works well though. |

Max Kulich,
Thanks.
Basement bound,
LOL!, We were rolling in laughter after that one. Thanks. Deadlines? Help or hurt? Depends on the type of person you are I guess, most everyone on the team here sees the deadline as annoying, but will rise to the occasion to do some of their best work to meet it.
cptoonz,
You did not miss it. We will be going live with the new site in less than two weeks I hope. Until then see my note below.
BooMSticK ,
Thanks, I feel the same. I hope I can make the time to revist some of the old stuff before we go to print.
B0b,
Thanks.
Shikome ,
Thanks.
Sumaleth ,
Thanks for the crit. I can understand that. It is different compared to the previous pieces, but I think that it still works. We are trying to have a lot of diversity. Steve will discuss his differing apporach to this piece within the book.
We are getting very close to completion now and everyone is burning the midnight oil to make this the best possible book we can. Thanks again to everyone for your comments, you are feeding our motivation to do this project right. We hope to have our new website complete in no more than two weeks from now. I plan to post a link from this thread when it is ready. Until then if you want to be notified via e-mail of when the new site goes live just hop over to my site and sign up on our e-mailing list on the home page. Thanks again to everyone. drawthrough.com
Here is this week's update. It is a stylized moto design piece from Harald Belker, HaraldBelker.com

Motorcycle? I don't see any motorcy - oh, I see it now. It was hidden behind the brand-spanking-new pair of pvc pants and I almost missed it. Not too sure about the background, but the bike is a nice design. Those pants steal the show though.
What is this attraction to shiny things us humans have anyway? |

It looks cool.
My only question is.
How to direct it.
The conection between front wheel and motorcycle is wrong.....or just a new super modern system..... |

Err.. of course it is a new "super modern system". This image is FICTION. The entire bike is a new "super modern" bike. |

Good grief! That's some amazing stuff you've got going there. It really motivates me to learn more about the painting side of Photoshop. Thanks for sharing with us meager underlings. ^_^ |

Gimbal8,
Yeah, her pants are THE focal point.
Max Kulich,
I think Harald was shooting for an implied functional design.
Nicklas ,
Thanks.
Sharper-Image,
Yeah, you got it.
The Magic Pen,
Thanks.
souloflittlebunnies,
Cool, post a picture when you are done.
Ravaran,
Thanks, our pleasure.
Well we are very close now, just a couple of more business issues with the new site before it is ready. I'm really hopeful that next Monday we will be live, if not I will still add another update here, not to worry. This week's update is an example of some of the other types work you will find in the book. I enjoy doing thumbnails quite a lot and I think I'm putting about 50 of my own in the book. Here are just a few. The others will also have early sketches of their pieces to add. I do not have a final count yet but I would not be surprised to end up with 150+ sketches and thumbnails to add to our finished works.
Thanks again for all the support.
Scott.

beat,
Thanks, the site will actually be all new. The new company we have started to publish this book is called Design Studio Press. I really hope to have the site done next week. We will have a link to it from DrawThrough. Love your work BTW.
Malachi Maloney ,
Thanks will do.
BARoNTiERi ,
Thanks a lot, love your work too. I'll post a link to the new site as soon as all the bugs have been worked out of it, we are very close.
Max Kulich,
Thanks, I see your point, I hope to finish one of these for the book I'll look into changing up the vehicle color palette.
***************
Here is this week's update. I was hoping to have the new site live today but we are still ironing out a few order form details etc.... So, here are a couple of sample pages from the book. The book is 9"x12" in a vertical format. What you see here is a typical two page spread. The line down the center is the binding. Each piece in the book has two pages dedicated to it. Text will accompany each piece discussing the design ideas and or the techniques used to create the piece. Both of these page samples are mine and show two of my plane pieces for the book. Both were rendering using Photoshop. I will save the discussion about the development steps for the book. We have about 68 of these vertical two page spreads.
In addition to the 68 vertical two page spreads we are aiming to have about 16 wide format fold-out pages throughout the book. Here is a sample of what one of these fold-out pages will look like. The printable maximum image size on the fold-outs is 11"x16.5".

dear lord, each successive update in the past has had me drooling more and more... but this really puts the icing on the cake... the layout, imho, is wonderful... more than i could have hoped for... and those fold-outs!!!
great work, scott and the gang...
keeping my fingers crossed for this...
[edit]shit, i'm going to be plonking lots of money down on books this month... there's that "invisible art" book about matte painting which'll set me back $50-odd, then there's this (what's the SRP on this one, if you don't mind me asking?), and possibly the LOTR art book and the document of metal gear solid... sheee-it... o_O [/edit]

What kind will the book be about? Has it some educational character, I mean are there explanations, why this and that thing looks so and not this way, or how will it be constructed? Sorry my newbie question, I never bought a Artbook before. =) |
