Done for eatpoo contest.

This "Frontline Moral Destroyer" was inspired by Steve Norrington's "Death Machine".

It comes in a container and can be easily assembled in six hours. It runs on a little fusion cell - not too safe, but who cares if it blows up in the enemy camp???

The blue dial has four settings (couldn't work out the labelling perfectly because of time constraints): KILL - MAIM - GUARD - STBY

Very easy to use.
The eyeclusters are receptive to a multispectrum, that goes from IR to UV, depending on the mission it can be varied.

The hoses are steel cables and nonfunctional - they're something the victims can hold onto while being maimed.

Not visible in the image are the nanite dispensers on the back, which can disperse eight different kinds of nanites - one kind that paralyzes the prey to the kind that cleans up bodies after the party.

Jesus crust, that is SHARP!

"The hoses are steel cables and nonfunctional - they're something the victims can hold onto while being maimed"

Haha, so very thoughtful and caring.. The victims must really feel comfortable while being maimed then :0

Sweet! Is this for the eatpoo vs. conceptart.org contest? I wanted to join, but I'm afraid my colored art skills aren't quite there yet.
Do you have any other pictures of it, i.e. front view, full side view, etc?

The detail in this is incredible. I like the chipped paint. Great job!

Enayla - God takes a capital G, I think.

Peter - Nice to see some of your stuff. I saw you a few times on ICQ, but I wasn't quick enough to mail you before you disconnected =_= Are you still in New Zealand?

hey, loki
I thought I would drop my thoughts. First the blood for the most part feels to me that it is just floating above the surface and not conneted to anything. The second thing that does come to mind is the surface. I know that it is metalic, but it seems too glossy. Last, are the surface scratches. Great idea to make it look worn and beatn', however, I think the way that they are done looks unnatural and "scratchy." Perhaps the contrast and spotted hilights take away from the piece making it look incomplete.

In the end It is better than what I can do at the moment.

My humble thanks, guys! I got really busy at work after I started it and unfortunately that didn't give me enough time to really finish it the way I wanted.
The hoses were to be transparent with a woven cloth structure in them, and a lot of other details. I also wanted to put silhouettes of torn apart bodies in the background instead of that bland crap.

Perspective of the teeth is wrong too.

Oh well. But I'm glad you guys like it - it's the first full painting I have done for myself in almost a year. I was too busy and also too depressed to do something. So I'm happy I could post something again.

shizo: thanks

iByrn: yes, it's for that contest. I made it up as I went along - there are no other views of it

Enyala: some people call me a devil, which is a much more appropriate title in my opinion. But I'm glad you like this one - coming from you that means a lot!

Snaker: hey - are you still in Japan??? I'm leaving for a vacation to the Cook Islands next monday and will be back in LA in the beginning of November. I'll be hooked up on AIM again when I'm back at DD ... stay in touch!

basement: you're right. The blood only has two shades - one for the light side, one for the shadow side. Starting to shade it would've taken me too long and is very difficult. =Same with putting shadows under thye drops.
The surface is coated with a 'polymimetic isomer' which is shiny, undercoat is a mesh made from carbon-nanotubes. And under it is titanium. Maybe, hehe.
When I painted the scratches I thought what the FMD would do - it hunts people - tracks them and relentlessly goes after them once it's close enough - that's why the scratches are along the head. It just ignores most obstacles because it's strong enough.
And yes, I wish I could've had more time with it.

bucklove: hey thanks - the crow rocks!!!!

AWESOME WORK, but a little flat. (I'm sorry I can't be more constructive) I find the blood stains a little overdone too.

Awesome looking death toy you've got there, only one little comment...

It's 'morale' not 'moral'- if it destroyed morals you'd have the PTA after it and not the armed forces

loki, this is great.

i just miss a bit of mid level detail.. you've got the great concept (well except for the fact that a victim would be able reach the dial and switch the thing to standby ), you have superb big shapes and awesome small scale details. but in between, it feels like something is missing.. it's probably that you didn't have enough time, yeah..

anyway, it's still great, but could be even better if you had more time

i love Loki.
(but that should be obvious by now)

ps. Your metal looks great, but perhaps your blood needs a bit more varience of colors?

Ahh good stuff.

Great to finally see you getting some ART done instead of just B/S'ing Flat all the time.

(I mean ART done on these forums, I guess you're busy with work, yeah?)

Excellent thick rubber tubes, the greyish dirt on them is just amzing. Almost like the powder like feeling you get when touching rubber of that sort..hmm.

You rock Sir

I like this image a lot.
The metal is wonderful.

The teeth could be a bit "cleaner".
And the head is a bit..hmm..the metal on this part looks too soft IMHO.

But I think I don't feel qualified to be suggesting anything to you.

Respect !

- max

Thanks guys!

Yeah, Jamez, people don't read posts ... But I don't care, because I'm off to here:

The image of the monster might disappear soon since I used an unconventional method of uploading ... my apologies in advance ...

Later ...
