The reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated. Not that I ever have any time anymore, but I thought those who long ago might remember me would like to see what I've been up to. ;}
This is Geisha. She's done in a Mucha/japanese print style for a book I'm going to be published in. ...with a little of my own personal interpretations thrown in. The theme of the book is "femme digitale".
Yes, I know she doesn't have the traditional white face. I thought it might look odd with the translucent top, but I think I'll put it in tonight or tomorrow just to see if it might look okay.
Also, I was thinking about making here into an old broadway theater poster. With creases lines and the old fonts, tape marks and everything. think I should? and if so, what should the title be? :}
Anyway, I'm happy to see what everyone's been up to lately. Hopefully someday I'll have time again... ;} Cheers! |

beautiful. it really reminds me of an old ukiyo-e print. at least in the background and positioning of the character. perhaps you should do a second version sometime and really go for that visual style as well. |

ey!!
i forgot to ask.. did you use your wacom on this? i also don't remember if you have one at home. just to let you know, i still hate you because of that. a mouse still seems to me like drawing with your shoulder, with a crayon strapped to it, while you're swimming in puddin.
anyway, AWESOME.. but you know that from me. keep doing this type of thing, the poster thing i mean. it could take you in some interesting directions. |

That's dudette *Chuckles*
Anyway, I really loathe finding a thread like this so late during the day, since by then, everone else has already used up every adjective in my vocabulary - Hence sticking yours truly in a spot where he can say but "My oh my...".
Somehow, I get the overwhelming feeling that this piece deserves so much more than that. |

I dont generally reply to posts with nudity.. but I must admit, this is a beautiful painting. the fabric is absolutely stunning. Very very good job.
my only crit, is that her torso seems a bit large for her legs.

xhead: thank you! ;} actually, I was thinking of making this theater/movie poster style thing into a series. different subjects, different theme, same style as a collection. Might make them into posters like the other four paintings I have printed up for sale. Might also make them into a bit of a collector's portfolio, to tell you the truth, but I needed feedback about the idea. and suggestions for expansion if there was a market. do you think the idea has merit?
zakath: awww. ;} thanks! it's great to be remembered and it's fabulous to be back. hopefully life lets me post here more often.
nova: yup. enh, 90% wacom. Most of the stuff I ever do is more like 100% mouse, but I'm getting used to the wacom more. it's starting to come. ;} cute analogy tho. thank you. ;}
jez: thank you! I got your email way back when, btw, but I couldn't get the registration to work. and once I screwed it up, the login kept rejecting my info. *shrugs* It was quite frustrating. wanted to join too. ;{
chiani: ;} I try. thank you!
anthony: thanks!
sds: I keep hearing that from people. I just might have to do this print thing with this series. what do you think? ;}
bld: thank you ;}
stroke: thank you ;}
malachi: thanks! ;}
lolion: long time, good to see you! ;} heheh. yeah, I get that a lot. iz okay. I think it's because I draw a lot of women that people think I'm a guy. ;} who knows. and thank you for the great compliment. your explanation was better than anything. ;}
awetopsy: well, I do think there is a big difference between artistic nudity and the erotic. I try to do classy stuff when I use nudity. thank you for replying. ;} and thanks! might be a bit big, but doesn't bother me enough to fiddle with it. ;}
think: absolutely. ;} I'll even put up the final theatrical poster when I can. ;} thanks!!
thank you everyone for replying! it's marvelous to be back. ;} someday I'll have time, really I will. :} well! back to work! cya in a bit! |

VERY nice work, and believe it or not the Geisha in your beautiful image there looks just like my wife. Well...without the giant knockers anyway. |

Merekat,
I don't know about a market, I'm just a lowly college student. But hey, go for it.
As far as doing a series...I am a VERY big fan of the idea of one artist showing multiple ways of interpreting the same/similar subject. |

That's a really, really nice artwork! I love the style, this mixing of realistic and comic art, this sharp outline!
The pose is also very dynamic.
Please show us more of your work! |
