Fanart, Warcraft III, a Huntress. Took my own spin on things, and C&C is welcome.

I kinda agree with gigatron. While being able to draw a character from a video game is neat and all... It really doesn't show your conceptual skills at all. |

As this isn't exactly a Concept Art Forum I think it doesn't matter that he is drawing fan art. Illustrators draw existing things all the time.
The Line art itself seems to really good, I would like too see the colorless version. To comment on the coloring, I think you need to contrast it more.
At least these are my 2 cents. Keep it up. |

Uhh yea, who said he was trying to come up with an original concept? He clearly stated that it is FANART. And just because he used characters from a video game certainly doesn't make it any less valid as a piece of artwork.
I guess gigatron that when you see some of Craig's work showing off characters from video games/movies, you also feel that he can't really draw at all? Use your fucking head. |

Svanur,
I'll email you a link to the lineart at some point, here. Thanks for the C&C, I need some more work on contrast in many aspects of coloring.
Egg Beater,
Thank you |

I think the pose looks a little too stiff especially regarding her neck. Sometimes a relaxed and more solemn pose might be more appropriate than the "waving sharp objects about and screaming" thing. Think a little about the colors...imagine a foggy scene...are the colors really that saturated? Are the contrasts really that high?
The perspective on the ground plane is a little curious...and the mist seems to be very very dense about a foot beyond the main foreground elements and nonexistant on their specific location. The moon is too big. I'm sorry but it really is...unless you're going to add some totally mad details to it and make it an integral part of the painting, i suggest keeping it closer to the natural size (which is about that of a penny held at an arm's lenght). Another problem with having such an enlarged moon is that the viewer assumes it would be the lightsource for the scene...which in this case might not go together too well.
The reflections look way too generic and done by formula...not taking proper consideration to light source and surrounding object's colors and forms. Of course...you can't be expected to draw perspective lines on every metallic surface and place the reflections like some 3D application, but imagine what color the light that is reflected should be and from where it would come from.
I like the purple skin and blue hair - it's an interesting combination...the armor design looks pretty nifty too. I Hope my critique is not given too harshly. I never manage to make it sound pleasant enough when i read it...and i wonder if i shouldn't just erase it all and tone it down a little.
Well It's fun to exchange comments with you cptoonz, i wish that it'd become more of a trend. |

Hey gigatron I wouldn't worry about Egg Beater's comment, considering it's really Pixel Soldier - he has no room to talk about original concept or even original linework. |

Novacaptain,
Thanks for the time you took on the constructive reply. I appreciate it, and am still digesting it. I have decided to continue working on the coloring of the piece and will keep you posted. Hopefully I can stay off my lazy duff and interact a little more frequently, here, and thus our exchanges would become more frequent. Thanks, again |

Not this again. You're obsession with Pixel Soldier is kinda spooky, Aber.
I think I'll take this opportunity to inform the world that Aber is really:
S E N A T E!

the pose and armor on the battle beast remind me of an old He-Man poster I once had, specifically he man's tiger... not saying you copied, just that that's the first thing that came to mind when I saw it.... |

I think like most others mentioned, it is good line art.
Where it fails is its stiffness. I dont think its the neck, mentioned earlier, I think its the whole pose. theres no sign of movement...Its like what you would see from a bad model in a figure class. Did you do any quick gestures before you drew this? Or did you just start one to finish? I think if you do a couple quick gestural sketchs you can find one more interesting, that shows some good movement. Other than that. its a great start. I would love to see the line drawing.
*cheers* |

No obessions, but your traits are too easy to spot out, like the suckup threads over at conceptart.org, and the negative stuff you post in threads like these. I don't even know who senate is, is that another one of you'r aliases?
Anyway, good to see your trying to defend yourself atleast and not making new accounts. I'll leave you alone until you post your next peice of stolen artwork. |

Kain Victus,
Thanks for the C&C. I did a quick rough sketch of this before starting. I liked the first cut of things and decided to go with it. I do appreciate the time you took with your post
Hyptosis,
Thank you kindly You have put a lot of work into your site...I have earmarked it for further "exploration", if you will!
For those interested in the pencils:

oOoOOk, Gigatron and Thanatos need to learn what C&C exactly is before they start typing ever again, give the kid a friggn break here, he was inspired by wc3 and drew something that I think could be worked into a great piece. Next time think before you type.

Yup, the lineart is really solid. You should maybe try coloring it again and experiment a little. |

TO ALL,
I debated staying quiet on this subject, but I am going to try to say this tactfully: PLEASE, keep your comments related to the artwork posted, here, I would greatly appreciate it. If you have a problem with someone, or someone's response, send them a PM, please. Thanks again to everyone that has taken the time to C&C the work.
gigatron,
Thank you. I am working on the "new" CG.
Svanur,
I appreciate it. Interestingly, enough, I was experimenting with useing the hard brushes in PS more. The result was pretty inconsistent, and it needs more work, which I am going to try and get to. Thanks for posting |
