I have posted a few times, but never got a response. I figure my past stuff just lacked the metal, so I decided to give it another go. I am not too proud of the final lighting, but it isnt bad. Here it is in order of paintover phases (1, 2, and final). Keep in mind I have not had an art class since 8th grade. All digital, no sketch (psp 7). I think my main problem is a lack of depth of color. About 2.5 hrs:

Thx

I think you need to take a step back from digital painting and work on basic drawing skills. From the looks of it, you need to learn how to define forms better via line and shade.

Right now, there's not a whole lot to say about it.

everything seem very flat, and the forms arent very interesting and not quite correct, i think initialt is completely right, just take a pencil and draw and study. this will help i lot, keep on

hmm, yeah. I have a real bad problem of not wanting to dedicate to something new. I knew I needed some defined lines and what not, I just didnt want to do it, most out of fear I will jack it up even worse.

Thanks for the advice.

You know, not having an art class since grade 8 shouldn't make a difference. I've never taken art out of school and i just finished grade 8, and some of my work is impressive. Anyway, just my opinion. Your hand doesn't seem to be too smooth either, it doesn't flow too naturally from what I see. Practise and then... practise more.

oh dude, trust the guy on the construction lines business. I've been learning to draw for 10 years and only did it click in 3 years ago to be more discipline and use construction lines. Damn the amount I've learned and still am learning is unbelievable due to this simple lines.

Start sketching construction lines everywhere you go. The bus works the best for me on my way to work. Sketch and sketch and sketch and eventually you'll get it.

Once you got form, then start on the shading. Then from there work on the details. And then keep working, I'm sure there's plenty of levels above detail, shading and form... But keep it up and never give up!

YOU HAVE THE POWER!

You're right: depth and color. Not bad, but you could really make some noise if you used references and stuck to them.

BTW, I like your method of critique, tilokani

First I well give you 100 point for you keep trying post here. I understand your feeling Many times I expect feedback too.

Here what I do just share what I know about art.

I feel the most important about is light souse. Because when you pay attention on where is the light come from. you can find a big change of your art. the light afect the bright, dark and shadow on object. If you can crotrol light on your art. your 2 dimensional artwork can look like 3 dimensional.

shape is very important too. I have a link here you can learn about shape.

ChiaNi, I don't know exactly...but isn't that one line the brow line? Shouldn't the brows/eyes be lower then?
And maybe the guy is looking at the floor (not at the viewer) so
-the lines should be curves
-the ears should actually be higher in the picture?
I'm NOT sure though...
Anyway good overpaint!
Here's a link to the whole Drawing the Head and Hands.
