Well im making a comic, heres the basic plot.
Average guy, Randal, has dreams/nightmares of himself [or another guy, Drand] living a horrible psychotic life, killing people and whatnot. Randal is really insane (dont know till later in comic).
some ideas:
-his dream life is real somehow
-both dream and life randals meet
-Dream Randal is his real life [before he went to his new home (psycho ward)] and his "real" life is his fantasy of what he wants.
-if they both meet, they each try to convert each other to their lifestyle (real randal tries to make dream randal normal, and vice versa)
-dream randal is real and lives in real randals basement
-maybe dream randals name is different, and he dreams about "someone else" but he finds out its him. his name could be Drand (DReam rANDal)
-Randal meets friends of Drands (vice versa)
as you can see its in a really messy state right now, i dont have details sorted out. Any suggestions would be really grand. thanks. |

That's a really good premise you've got there.
It could be cool if the real Randal could hang out with the dream Randal, maybe they could play pool in the basement or something. And if Randal's friend came down to look for him, dream Randal would interfere in the conversation, but it won't have any effect.
For the name of Dream Randal, if he is subconsciously geeky, maybe you could give him a geeky name like "Hoven the Strong" or "Melvin". I suck at creating names, it's your call. |

Hey i really like the idea of them hanging out, but it kinda defeats the purpose of him being a different person when he dreams.. if i could find some way around that maybe.. i dunno, maybe he still could dream and be him... damn i hate making complicated stuff lol |

Sounds awfully "Fight Club" to me. Still, a good premise, just be careful of not to stray into the same territory.

i dunno about that, pretty much everything sounds like something else. fight club is certainly not the first story about a split personality. |

Fight Club is about split personality? I haven't got a chance to see it yet (I'm probably the last person in the world who haven't seen it). Now you've ruined it. Thanks. |

Whoops. Didn't mean to ruin the movie for anyone. I hate it when people do that to me too.
Thankfully, Fight Club is a much more sophisticated film than anything mentioned here --so it's not necessarily ruined. Ahcri, if you get some free time you should check it out. The visuals alone warrant a viewing. Who knows, the story might even surprise you.
Prolix, check out the write-up on IMDB here:
http://us.imdb.com/Title?0137523 . Watch the movie too, if you can. Several of your ideas are touched on in the movie and it'd be a shame if you worked hard on this concept only to be unfairly compared to the movie.
