I tried posting this in the speedpainting thread but it wouldn't let me. I think it might be because of the amount of pictures posted. So I hope you don't mind me starting a new thread to continue where the other left of.

I'll start it with this one. My first landscape speedpainting. I don't normally paint landscapes but I thought I would have a go for this thread.

20 mins. No ref.

Still trying to remember how to draw. I know there's some tweaked stuff in here, notably the right arm.

Yes, you're right. The good old SPEED PAINTING II thread seems to have gone crazy after 1300 posts.

Let's get this one up there.

Another *ahem* 'speed' painting (at 3 hours...sigh... not getting any quicker) but at least I guess I'm learning something. I redo so many times to get the colors matching right... And I can't stop noodling the details...

Pixelsoldier - thanks, I was pretty pleased with the background, it's the only part that looks loose and fresh to me.

Bengal - Desole mon ami, mais c'est simplement copiee, avec une photo come reference. (difficile d'ecrire en francais sans accents, n'est-ce pas?) I wish I could claim that this is out of my head, but it's just a study from a Corbis image. Just trying to match colors and learn light and shadow values! Getting the light is in fact my weakness, and what I'm TRYING to learn!

All good stuff so far. I'm hopefully going to actually post some of my work, once I get regular digital painting down. Maybe I'll post some tradition art.
I was thinking "Speedpainting III" is starting to sound like a software title. Someone should market that.

phil, the image in itself is so balanced and interesting, very "mature". especially the background mountains.
even with a photo reference, it remains a very accomplished study. i love that image.

Here's my contribution, if you could just find an extra instant to look at this link (Tripod doesn't allow images to be "img"ed to, to my knowledge).

I took much inspiration from Janne in creating this, as I'm sure is apparent.

Sparth - Merci pour l'encouragement! The difficulty lies when I try to translate what I'm learning to works out of my head... It doesn't quite come out as well...

I just took a look at your website. Fantastic!!! I especially like the interior sketches from AITD4. Great lighting and atmosphere, and I love the extreme perspective. You should post some on conceptdesignforum.com. Good tutorial also.

It kinda reminds me of the Captain from Sealab 2021, but just kinda screwed up....

Anyway, took about 5 minutes.
