"The doves should not be white, my love,
No more than your lonely tears.

And yet, white they remain,
Pure like your innocence,
Even in the face of sin.

The doves should not be white, my love,
Forgive me for tainting them black.

Forgive me, my love, the sin was all mine.
"

In between working my arse off, I've managed to draw this. For those who are easily offended by androgyny, I'm really sorry, I can't help it ;P

This is a lot softer and more fairytale'ish than what I'm used to doing, but I had fun... even if it's a bit rushed.

Anyway, enjoy =]

[Edit] Something went wrong with Sijun when I posted my latest post as a response to the other's... that's why it's been cut in half =[ I can't seem to be able to edit it.

Looks great, of course duh
Really like the contrast and the colors of the skin,I think the blueish color makes the skin so good.

about the skincolors; do you have a certain way to pick them?

dontfallin, I guess you don't know what androgyny means, huh? She addressed that very issue.

Enayla, the folds in the fabric are brilliant. My eye can't leave that area of the piece. Incredible.

thank you for sharing that enalya. like I said before I really respect your work. I think its gotten too difficult around here to ask simple a question without everyone getting all defensive about it and biting off your head for it. I think I wont return here for a long while.

That's very sweet. Especially the folds and the birds are wow. A question: Do you want to get the kind of "soft airbrush style effect" you get when you paint skin? Or is that just your natural style?
I think it's really great but I would just love to see you do some work with a more "rough" style.

Gah, it so ABSOLUTELY ate my entire post when it crashed. =[ And now I'm too stressed out to respond to what everyone said.

Just that... thank you, very much - all of you. It was a rather rushed picture but I'm feeling mostly happy with it anyway =]

As for the androgyny thing, here's the entire response I wrote, that got devoured as Sijun crashed:

Well Ill give you a long answer on this one, just because I feel like ;]

I love to draw soft, beautiful things. Flowing lines, ovals rather than squares, and long, dancing locks of hair because it goes with the way I paint. When I paint, Im not trying to think of how to make a face as masculine as I can I think on how to make it as beautiful as possible. For all that men can be handsome and stunning fate knows none of my boyfriends have been particularly feminine they are very, very rarely beautiful.

There are more reasons. In a picture, androgyny fascinates me. Its interesting to draw creatures that can hardly even exist in real life or to try to create faces and bodies caught in between sexualities, so that some will interpret them as beautiful women, and others as lovely men. Androgyny isnt new in art, at all, but its something Ive always found quite intriguing. Slowly wiping out the things that separate man from woman, and creating a gorgeous in-between creature. Such as Vicdaen, here. If this disturbs someone, Im really sorry, but nobody is forcing anyone to look at my work ;]

I guess I have no place in a forum filled mainly with guys ;] I dont really care, though, I love to paint, and I know that there are others out there that dont really care about the gender of someone in a picture, only about whether or not it is pleasing to the eye. Ive never painted to turn anyone on. These are not pinups, and they are made for another purpose altogether. I mean, its not like you have to date them, right?

I see no reason to why I should draw manly men. I know I can, I do it often at work. There are others who can do it -much- better than I can, anyway, Ill leave it to them =]

Anyway, glad you like my work, and I hope Ive clarified the issue a little. To sum what Ive said up in a few words:
I draw androgyny because I think it is beautiful.

Oh, and on the 'airbrushed' note. This is how I draw because I like it. I tried a rougher style and I didn't feel comfortable using it. I really just want to paint what I like to paint - and this is how it comes out. I know it can't fit everyone's taste =)

I think you've attained your painting goal, because this image is absolutely beautiful. The palette, the details like the folds in the cloth, all done wonderfully. Maybe you rushed this one, but I see, imho an improvement in this piece, just in your handling of the composition and things like the subtle turn of the pelvis and nothing has been overworked. Again--beautiful!

Dear Enayla,
I am very new here. I found you via Wet Canvas web-site. Someone there directed a link to this beautiful image you created. I ache to be able to paint like you do here.
At first, I was able to view your image, but, now! I can not open it! It's got that darn PC red dot with a white X in it. What happened? How come I can't view it now but could at first? GRRRR!

THANK YOU! AndyT!
I did not get an e-mess telling me of new replies to this post ...guess that's not how this place operates, eh?
I appreciate you posting this beautiful art for me again.
Why is the orig. art post no longer?
