very cool Bobo, it'd be great if you could do a few more. It'd be really cool if you could add some audio commentary to explain certain steps and your reasoning behind them. |

Thanks Friend,
Your tutorial will help me a lot !!!
Thanks , thanks, thanks…
I have sorry that you are the first and the only guy I saw that put a good tutorial (video), showing all PhotoShop screen, showing the layers, tools, the boxes and how you made ... your technique!!!!
I hope that other good painters follow your good example and share them knowledge, putting here some good tutorial.
Note: The only think that is missing is a few explanation (audio), for some parts…. but nobody is perfect :O)
Congratulations and thanks for your good work and for your time that you have lose to do this video for all guys here.
Best regards,
Ricardo Figueira

Hi Bobo. I wanted to participate in this thread too. But as you can see in the picture below, I'm not very good at this yet.
I made the video of that pic with the Camtasia Recorder you recommended and you can see (if you even are going to watch it) that I used a lot of things straight from the tutorial you made. - So I can say this isn't really my style, because I rejected my previous style and stared to learn your one. Which, I think, is much better than my previous one. (I don't even know the mention of the color-thing you did in the beginning of your picture but I still did the same.. at least almost. I thought it probably had something to do with the 'heat' of a color. Anyway, I was happy with the result that I got, so I will keep doing that.) - Summary: I'm sorry this film is like a full imitation of yours. However, I'm just a beginner.
Okay. When I finished making the video with the Recorder, I noticed the filesize was as much as 174MB!! Heavily bigger than yours. So I had to compress it a lot before uploading it. I don't know what I did wrong with the settings or something so I would really appreciate if you, Bobo, could send here the settings you used to make a film with Camtasia.
So the video is in Div-x format, cause now its size is only 10MB so that I can upload it. Here's the codec if somebody hasn't got it: ftp://ftp.pcworld.com/pub/video/video_tools/divx_3.11alpha.zip
And finally, here's the video: http://storm.prohosting.com/jarvinen/maxon_tut01.avi
Thank you anyone who managed to read this far. I will surely download everyone of the tut-films in this thread, even if their size is 100MB.
(PS. How can I change the size of a brush straight in Photoshop with some sorta shortcut like you, Bobo, did in your video?)

Thanks Bobo!
Though I am against the "dogge and burn" technique, I must recognize your results are so good that I have to reconsider my philosophy. In the end it is the only thing that counts on digital art: the results. |

It says that "no suitable decompressor could be found" and it says this with every player i try to open the file up in. What is going on and how do I fix it so I can see this movie, im really exited to see it. damn. Thanks. |

Hey Dragon, don't be such a bitch. Im sorry I didn't realize that was what the codec was for, I have never had to download a decompressor for a video before, so I was confused. Thank you for telling me, but dude go take a brisk walk or something dude, you need to chill out.

I've got a question for you Bobo.. watching the video I noticed that your cursor's size changes constantly while you're using the dodge/burn tool. How do you do that so fast? |

Hey those images look great! I am glad that yall have found this video helpful. The hotkeys for changing brush sizes are the [ and ] keys. They are a major time saver. I am currently trying to get my site up and running but I hope to make more videos in the future.

Okay. I know you are busy and stuff, but regardless of that could you even shortly say what settings did you use to make a film with camtasia. your film's size was such a small.

Ok I used Camtasia Producer and walked through the Production Wizard after changing the speed.
Go to File, speed and change the settings to your preference. I made the movie at 200% of original clip speed.
After that I went to the Production Wizard and entered the following settings:
Size: 480x380 (I think)
Colors: High Color 16-bit
Frame Rate: Automatic
That’s it. I hope it helps.
Thanks again everyone who took the time to comment. I appreciate it and have a second video finished on UVMaping a low poly model in 3ds Max. As soon as I get my site up and running at Polycount.com I will post it.
