well i see your points, because wow they look a lot alike although i like whoevers that is better i think, but in terms of me copying someone well that didnt happen. im not saying its impossible i didnt see that image somewhere and it played a role while i was doing mine, but a) i dont recall seeing it before and b) aa what was be gunna be, well b can be if i did gank off on the artist style i appologize it was completely subconscious.

I wouldn't be quick to accuse this piece as a rip. Sure it looks similar but it's a red haired punk chick with a studded leather collar.
Walking through Harvard or Kenmore Square in Boston, I have seen many real life people that fit this look perfectly.

Either that or maybe 0knowledge has seen this pic before and was subliminally influenced by it?

WAYY too many similarities. Well, even if you did rip it off, the technique is excellent, and technique is half the battle. Not a bad job.

I think these sort of speak for themselves.

Tank Girl,(c) Jamie Hewlett (early nineties)

1) Same hair (same color, same style, same curly strand on the side, curling forward)

2) Same prominent chin jutting forward

3) Blue eyeshadow

4) Studded collar

5) Bold reddish tint on underside of nose

6) Identical edge from tip of nose to upper forehead

7) Eye shifted backwards

8) Small part of right eyelash sticking out (along the same horizontal line as the left eyelash)

I'm not trying to run the guy out of town or anything, but honestly, I don't see how you could see these two images and not spot the blatant and suspicious similarities. If it was a reinterpretation or repaint of Micke's illustration, then that's fine, because it could serve as an excercise in technique.

Well I'm sorry, but Micke was clearly inspired by Hewlett - I even thought about tank girl before I saw the scan right above. So everyone take a deep breath & stop looking at Tank Girl as reference ... sheeesh.

and btw - both are nicely done.

From an artistic/conceptual standpoint, Micke was very obviously inspired by Hewlett. From a technical standpoint, 0knowledge was very obviously inspired by Micke. I really don't want to anger anyone, just trying to clarify my point. Like I said, I love the technique he used and I would love to see more.

I strongly believe you can accidently make your work look like something that inspires you, I do it, and then kick myself when I, or someone else, sees it later. It hurts, makes yo ufeel uncreative. But that inspiration for me. Other people's gret awork and creativity, however, this is a bit freaky =]

wowwy mowwy, i have to say i never thought id cause such a sensation hehe. anyways id like to say i aggree with a lot of the comments, and tank girl rocks hollaaa! Also while i can see Tinusch points about their likeness i could also point out just as many things that arent that similar, although i wont just because i think this is getting into the beating of a dead horse territory.

Huh? I never said it was mine. It's linked directly from Micke's site. I also said it was Micke's. You and I are a lot alike my friend. In that we both want you banned.

Good one. That reminds me of a friend of mine, always saying clever things Tinusch.

I'm afraid I'm also guilty for loving a picture so much and taking inspiration from it that the end result is too similar to be seen in public. Sigh.

I like 0knowledge's, Micke's, and especially Jamie Hewlett's. I think I like Micke's best, though you can't really compare his and Jamie's because they aren't really of the same thing (tank girl). Not to mention punk girls are where it's at.
Am I right?

What a mess!
Well to be honest i think that the picture
looks alot like the one that i did, the angle, face, hairdo etc.. But then again, my picture was heavilly inspired by Hewlett's work too wich i really admire alot. I recall that i even mentioned it when i first posted it way back. The picture i did is very simillar to Jamie H's in many ways, the attitude, the way she has her ciggarette in her mouth and the profile. I don't really know what to say except that i did'nt look at Hewletts work when i did the the pic.
I wanted Tankgirls attitude to the pic, wich i thought suited Corinne Hall's personallity and style..I've seen alot of Hewlett's work and i guess it has stuck to my brain. Take a look at the opening picture
on my site for example. But even though it looks alot like it and the fact that i'm inspired by him, i do hope that there is more me than him in there. Right now i see so many simillarities to Hewlett that i think it would be more thain fair to give Hewlett some cred on the comments for the pic on my site.

I'm pretty shocked myself and i really did'nt give this much thought when i created it. Scary.

-Mikael
