Hey guys. I've been browsing around here for a little while and I'm extremely impressed with the work that some of you guys are doing. Especially the speedpainting stuff. Unbelievable.
Well, I guess I'll start off by showing something that I've done recently (I just got a Wacom and it's one of the coolest toys ever).
It was a pic for a friend of mine. I used a photo as a reference. |

thanks, Molako. It took me like 4 days to make the koala pic. And there are all these people who are doing way better stuff without references in less than 90 minutes. I look forward to learning a lot from you guys! |

As an Australian citizen... I feel obliged to tell you that... KOALAS ARE NOT BEARS!!!
Anyways... Odie, welcome to the forum. Great illustration, the colours help make it look warm and cuddly. The composition is nice too. My only crit would be the sky. It seems so blank that it is almost distracting. To me anyway, I can tell it is a gradient. See what I mean? It doesn't need much, infact it needs very little... but it does need _something_ there.
Hope that helps. |

Have you heard Mitch Hedburg's bit on Koalas?
quote: My apartment is infested with Koala bears.
It's the cutest infestation ever. Way better than cockroaches.
When I turn on my lights, a bunch of Koala bears scatter.
And I don't want 'em to.
I'm like, "Hold on a second, fellas."
"Let me hold one of you."
------
Nice image, btw. Very convincing and cute.
