I second impaler, faust, and chapel. I agree that this is half-assed, but as red leader said, it's better than no-assed. We have to at least try something. If it doesn't work, then I second Steven Stahlberg's idea of another forum.

is dabih available at all to put any of this into action? obviously he hasn't been around but it could be possible for him to add more moderators. or at least it seems like it. i think both faustgfx and impaler would be good for the job. the only issue i would have with faustgfx, is that he is the one that is usually involved in the flame wars. that i don't really care about, but it would be not all that good if he started using moderating power against someone because of one of those arguements. but as long as that doesnt happen, he would get my vote. also, i kind of agree with impaler that we don't want too many moderators. but there was just one moderator when there were 500-1000 members. and there seem to be none right now when there are five times that many. it seems like five or so good moderators wouldn't be unreasonable, and would probably lighten the load between them.

I must admit that Jussi and I have had our flamewars, had our disagreements, and had our eventual hatred for each other

However, things have changed. Faust is very intelligent in terms of how he deals with people. I think he has just the right amount of dictator in him to do this job well.

yes, i'd like to see a sijun 2 as well, though i imagine it'd have to be called something else ^_^.

i've been scouring the net for other art forums and have not had much luck. this one is crazy, lumental is boring and too quiet (oh and private). faust's forum is pretty cool, however those ads are annoying and it's generally a different sort of place (but not a bad one!). francis has a cool forum, but it's geared towards conceptual design.

so yea. i sure wish someone with deep pockets would start a new, open, and heavily moderated forum.

as for faust. well, i hate the guy, yet i think he'd make a great moderator. go figure ~_~

I certainly think we need to do something about the situation. We really need Dhab.

Sijun 2, maybe needs a better name, but heck that would be a last resort anyway. We should save what we have first.

I Don't think we could successfully moderate, without force at least. I mean this place is somewhat self-regulating already eg. if you deserve it you will get a hard time (this is really stupid though, it bumps down deserved posts, and wastes time), but not without powers unfortunately.

Redleader: I don't think any of us have the final say in determining who could get a 'civilian moderator' status. I mean who really is the top dog around here? No-one has true authority except Dhab, Sumaleth, or Enayla. Unfortunately they practically don't exist now.

I agree that we need to do something, so lets keep discussing it. I will not stand for any partisan descisions, based on only a small voting system. We need to try to, if possible hear the views of as many as possible.

I would be glad to help with any moderation tasks, I do spend quite a lot of time here. Unfortunately though I don't think I would be able to be here as a 'full-time' moderator. I really would like to be able to help though, when I am around the place. If only more of us could moderate with powers. There are plenty of appropriate ppl here, mainly senior members.

A good cleaning anyway. I vote for Faust, and Impaler. I am fairly new, but I have checked in at least once a day and have tried to post fair and helpful responses to the relevant threads. These two guys seem to always be on the ball, and maybe just level headed enough to talk some people off of the ledge.
