It's been a while since I've posted here, but I felt that I should share my strugles with others.

I've found over the last few months I'm stuck in a slump, I can't get myself to draw properly. And by that I mean, I see a shape or form and what my hand wants to draw is not the same. So I've been aiming to tighen my control over my hand and pen so as to bring both my hand and eyes together. I've decided to do a group of life drawings, and this is part one!

Please feel free to C&C.

decent gesture, though the ribcage seems narrow and the left boob looks saggy, could just be the model though(if any). in terms of your art slump, im sorry to hear that man. i just yesterday started getting over one that had been crushin me for months.

if you dont mind, heres some stuff i did to help me out of it:
- play with mediums you havent touched yet, use ink, pastels, markers, anything other than the norm.
- doodle stupid crap, just dont look at it critically, draw stupid faced people, draw a lame car like we all used to when we were 6 with a crayon. just draw.
- have some confidence, know that you are going to produce stuff that wont be worth burning, everyone has a large pile of wasted paper hidden somewhere!
- keep a sketchbook to work with everyday, even if you only doodle.
- and finally, set goals for yourself. for instance, i have a very hard time drawing girls, so in one of my sketchbooks i have vowed to draw at least one chick everyday, but i push for more. even if its lame, just do it. your improvements will show.

good luck with those hand-eye coordination skills, keep the faith!

Thanks for the reply.

Drawing people was always my week point so I'm using that to try and get out of this slump. One a day that I feel ok with. So if that means I draw 20 then that's the case.

As for her hand. I started to cop out on this drawing once I did the hand. It was the last piece I did. But you are right the finger is way to long. Oh, and yes the model had some large breasts, that tended to drop over the side of her body.

Again thanks for the reply.

here's a new one to add to the batch. I've had a few busy days that added up to a week, and I had no time to post another picture. Here is the latest installment.

Picture Ref. Used, about 2-21/2 hours.
