Hey all- another b/w drawing. Hope I get as much feedback on this as the last (1st) one. Synzero, wanna color this too? haha...
anyway, lemme know what you guys think, BOTH good and bad.
I know thigs are a little funky around the neck area, I didn't go back while I was drawing it.

These designs are sweet. Yeah, I'm into it. I'm outta town for the weekend, but when I get back I'll be sure to give this image a shot. I've already got the color scheme in my head. |

I searched and searched but couldn't really find anything wrong. Great work again Joe!
---Uber picky mode---
The only thing I noticed was the headrest thingy. It is very slightly wonky. The two spikes that make a horizontal axis are too level and horizonatal considering he is tilting his head. Imagine a line traveling up his face and onwards, use that as your guide to make a 90 degree angle and figure out the spikes. I'm being ultra picky here, but you asked for crit in email so I'm trying to find an excuse.. hehe.
It is a common mistake that ppl make, they make the drawing thinking about the page as having a vertical and that leads them astray when they should be judging angles based on the content of the pic. Eg.. ppl often draw noses vertically even if the rest of a face is drawn on a slight angle. See what I mean?
Infact if you look at the nose of your char you may be able to pick up this exact trait! Look at the angle that the eyes make and then look how the nose relates to this.
hehe, really picky... but heh.
---End Uber picky mode---
Nice work again! really great style and fantastic designs you have.

Whew! Thanks everybody for your feedback & comliments - Ian, once again great technical stuff to look out for (this is the stuff I need!).
Psionic and syn, have at it, I'm totally looking forward to seeing what you come up with if you end up getting around to it It's always nice to get objective opinions. I'm sure if you colored it, it would turn out totally different than what I'd imagine, it'd be good to see the different approach.
Bbound - thanks I guess my guys look sad cuz I'm not that hot at faces, or coming up with any realistic variation anyway - and I end up drawing lightly until I see some semblance to feeling in the face, so there's a little story or so something mildly narrative is happening. THis way the character has a little flavor I guess. It just so happens that they end up looking sad, or troubled. I guess I should try and think about other emotions! I think it'd be a kick to see one of these guys smiling!
Thx for pointing that out!
Well, err, I'll check back in for colored versions
thx again all. looking forward to sharing more soon. j |

Whoa, his hands are incredible. I totally dig the design!
They remind me of Liono's claw in Thundercats, only oversized. Awesome work. You're very talented. |

Wulp. Back from a good vacation. As mentioned, here are the colors. (You mind if I post this as a color sample on other boards, Joe?) Let me know if you like em, C+C welcome, etc, etc...

Syn! You're the man You totally read my mind - I'm right there with you on the maroon/dark red. Feel free to show it on other boards bro, thanks for asking.
I love the texture on his fleshy arm, all the bumps/muscles jump out, real convincing.
Lessee... crit crit...
You know about cool shadowing my man? Try this, put a little grey/green or blue into some shadow areas and see if it suits you. Just a thought. (think desaturation)
Also, see the techy hunks of his left shoulder, they look perfect, kinda too perfect know what I mean? It's as if they're floating and being hit by the exact same light in the exact same position, which of course, they aren't right? Basically I'm trying to say look out for lighting/hiliting each object/shape the exact same. Every surface is catching light in a different way, for the most part anyway.
Just some stuff that came to mind. Good job tho' man, thanks again. Red! I love it...
thnx for all other compliments guys.

ok ok for 20 minutes that's about as far from shabby as one could wish for Kratul, I love the orange in the middle of all that grey/green. And that bold shadow across the whole thing, real nice man. btw thx for compliment - your coloring is great. I'm totally convinced.
But yes, I agree, roundeye hurt all our feelings with that one. hehe... I mean, err, how about that forearm? And what's with all the inventing he did with color, he totally gave the whole thing it's own texture!
Ok don't mind my excitement at having such talented people color my stuff!
Thnx you guys, both commendable jobs - totally flattered.
