I think this is the right section for this, but if not, please move it.
It is a tutorial on setting up a system of guide lines for simpel two point perspective drawing.
Click: the tutorial...

This is more a question than a criticism, but why not just render a simple wireframe scene and paint over it? If the renderer can get the perspective accurate every time, I hardly think painting over a 3D render is likely to limit one's style. Seems like a lot of work for something which can do all the perspective work and get it right first time round.

But ceenda, you're assuming that everyone knows how to use 3D software. I for one, do not. :/ |

Not all of us know how to make wire frame models yet. Plus, it's good to learn to do it freehand first. I want to try using wireframe models once I learn how, but until then this seems like a great method. I had just been drawing perspective lines for every individual picture; I don't know why it never dawned on me to make a template like that, or to extend the canvas out instead of just guessing where the lines should go. Sigh, I can be so stupid sometimes.

Very cool Eyewoo! Ceenda- I like to make 3d models to get my perspective correct, but if I'm just doing a landscape or something without a lot of buildings, this method looks like it could give you a really fast guidline on the perspective. |

I agree with ceenda creating simple wireframe models should take you no more then a week to learn and you can use free programs like Milk shape , now im not saying it is a bad thing to learn the lessons freehand and this is a fine tutorial but for people who already have learned these lessons save yourself sometime and layout the drawing in 3d ... or make yourself a block model similar to the stuff spooge used in his final fantasy paintings
*edit* Really nice tut eyewoo thanks * booksmark *

Nice technique. I think you should defintely highlight...
"This tutorial assumes that you already know how to use Photoshop's adjustment and transform tools, and the fundamentals of setting vanishing points for a 2 point perspective drawing."
Very important that ppl know that they must understand perspective theory and not arbitrarily place those two vanishing points. I missed the little text at the top to start with... so just a suggestion make it bigger! |
