damn it's hard to get replies, is my work that bad? I appreciate I'm pretty new and I'm not piecing together full scenes yet but these are just experiments so I really do need feedback to move on... have I posted in the wrong forum?
been trying to sort out a method of working on comp for while... this is scanned lineart (in horrible biro ) then coloured in photoshop.
I've tried and tried to draw directly with my wacom which resulted in...
detail
And I scanned a random sketch and cg'ed it with burn and dodge tools
advice and critique welcome ...

Your stuffs not bad. I know the feeling on hard it is to get a reply The one thing I noticed about your art is that its very flat. You need to add more contrast, create a light source. eg: shadows and highlights. You will find your images will have more life to them. Keep it up! |

well I'm trying but I'm certainly not succeeding - I took the above sketch and tried to properly cg it but it still looks flat, I'm gonna start again but try to figure out where the lights coming from again...

Usually find it easier to pick a light source thats coming either from the right or the left. That way you go from your lights to your mid tones and then your darks. |

people shouldnt get too worked up over a lack of comments. boards are fickle and sometimes people just dont have anything to say. except obvious stuff that the creator of the pic himself should see.
as for the pics, the first looks very painful. id grab a science anatomy book to find out what our bodies look like without skin though. the second and third pics are cool, but they could be made better if the coloring was more interesting, in terms of contrasts and shading.
darker darks and lighter lights.
