another recent character design for my portfolio... this one started out with just a few abstract lines that eventually turned into the jetpack. c&c welcome!

Very nice style, so quick and precise!!!

Can I ask what you use to draw your lines?

Is it a brush?

thanks jayceeL! i use a PANTONE extra black marker by Letraset that comes with 3 different size tips. cost: about $6 Cdn.
it was anything but quick, however...

wow!!! drawn with a marker...I'm even more impressed now. How do you get these amazing lines with a marker...unbelievable

You say it wasn't done quick but the lines look very "fast" and fresh. How long did it take you?

I'm very impressed

this drawing is fairly large (18"x24"), so from concepts to finish it took an entire afternoon (with breaks!). the lines were drawn with quick "rehearsed" strokes in order to give them that sense of freshness, and were done ontop of a thinner underdrawing (included below). so basically i drew it 3 times, once each in pencil, marker, and then marker again for the final shading. yeah... i hope i get faster at it. gotta make a living ya know.

Wow, I would never have guessed that the drawing was that big. I really like the thinner underdrawing as well, you just make it look soo easy

Thanks for sharing, I wanna learn how to give my drawings that "fresh" look, my ink drawings always look more forced and mechanical.
Any tips you can give I'm all ears

Thanks

JayCeeL
