Why does nobody care to write another ones username right? It would be as simple as copypaste it, if you dont want to write it.
I think its a sign of respect, to take the time to at least spell the username right. I dont correct every mistake I make in my posts, Im not THAT good in english, but if I see that I misspelled somebodies name I DO correct that but in first instance I try to spell it right. |

Same reason people say "yeah" instead of "yes".
It's easier to pronounce, remember and type. Plus, people put all these ornate decorations on their names, like "capital letters", and "the letter U"...
[edit]I SWORE I put two t's in "Letters"... . [/edit]

Im sure you dont know but the capital letter L in my username is there because its a pun. Its glitter + Litterbug. I thought quite a time about my username before I decided to take this one.
Ive posted its explanation with my introduction-post on this forum in addition to my logo and stroke. Even if it doesnt change much if I complain about it, I surely will NOT accept it.
I dont mind people calling me Horst instead of Horst-Peter (as my full first name in Real Life would be), but Horst is simply a name and has no meaning behind it like gLitterbug has.
If I would have a name like Dr. Annoying or similar, I wouldnt mind people calling me Dr. or if my name would be Johnny Karusowvic I wouldnt mind calling me Johnny. I hope you understand my point.
EDIT: thx Mezoic

Most people just write mine as Jabber which is fine with me. On MSN My name is Slaer. Many people don't know how to get the . so Slayer is fine as well, but that's understandable! |

Well, most of the time, I'm called "Enyala"... or even "Enya". People are starting to get it right now, though.
gLitterbug... well... if I've ever spelled it wrong, it's probably because I like to write names with a capital letter in the beginning. Even if someone's user name is, say "blah", I'll most likely write "Blah" because it looks more polite. |

Im sure I care for that too much, but for me its a sign of disrespect if they write the full name but without looking at proper spelling.
I wouldnt care if someone would call me bug, so if you dont want to type my "full correct name", just say bug, Bug, or such thing.
thx |

For about 3 years I had 2 last names like Doe-Henry (name have been changed) and my school alway put it Henry-Doe. I had the wrong school counsoler for the first half of my freshman year... then i switched schools and had the first last name dropped.
My first name is Elizabeth and my friends call me Beffy (sometimes they add the Vampire Slayer to it). I write that on my paper once and the teacher called out for Beefy instead.
Feel sorry for the poor kids (or the teachers that had to try and pronouce these names) stuck with the name Shitonme and Shithead. Pronouced shy-toe-me and shy-thead. Not joking actually names! |

people used to call me ichi all the time, which was fine with me...except that i think someone else here has "ichi" as a username...oh yeah, and hardly anyone ever writes replies to me
BTW: instead of starting a new thread and ticking people off, i'm just going to say it here, and if no one reads it, oh well: hey, i'm new here. i do flash, vector art, and manipulation, but am trying to get into raster image painting (ie painter/photoshop painting)...whassup? |

um, wow. hehe, haven't really been asked before. thank you, btw! i'm still in college but i already manage a musician's website from back home. ummm...which of my sites did you see? i forget this sort of thing easily. if it's something i feel i have the time to handle, i'd certainly be willing to put something up for a very reasonable price...
well, jcFIG, if you or anyone else wants, drop me a line at [email protected] or add me to your AIM list as CJLHuber...
gLitterbug; thanks! i posted one or two a while ago, but not much else except for a lame thread about penguin art that didn't go anywhere
anyhoo - back to work! (hah) have a good day, evvybuddy! |

Well, I believe that spelling someone's name correctly is much like remembering someone's name. We may... or may not "remember" someones name, nontheless, spell it correctly, the outcome of whether we do or not speaks of how much respect we give to that person ultimately...
Deep thoughts... |
