Hi, well, I'm new and I've finally worked up the courage to post something. I'm in 3D but every once in a while a concept sketch becomes something more than a sketch, so here you go. Let me know what you think.

WO!!!!
Awesome! You say you needed to work up the courage. Fear no more.
Really nice, detailed to the nth degree and very slick. Pretty small weapon for such a large dude tho.
Nice work! |

Thanks Ian. Well, this place holds a lot of amazing artists and can be a little intimidating for someone new. I have a little update. I followed some very good advice from someone on CGTalk and added some shadows to add a bit of depth. Again a pretty big pic for which I apologize

I absolutely love the detail. The way you create beat up metal is very sweet indeed.
The shadows do add, but were not nessesary. Add some color if you feel you can and like.
Wow. |

One more thing..sorry for the double post....
Just curious from a learning stand point...why create so much detail on object...and not on the skin. The skin looks airbrushy, and the metal looks refined and detailed.....
Is this a style? Would creating more skin detail detract from the overall image....??? Just trying to learn and sap the knolledge from you all. |

Fab: Yes, that advice opened up a new chapter in my drawing, I never did visible shadows, always just hinted at shadows through use of light and dark tones (so thanks, Balistic)
Raytrace Man: Hi fellow maxforums-guy, also expanding your horizon eh? Thanks, I'm glad you like it.
About the unfinished look of the arms: I wish it had some deeper meaning but I'm affraid it's just lazyness. I got fed up and thought it looked okay the way it was. Maybe in a few weeks I'll texture the arms and legs a bit. |
