Thats not just disappointing, thats plain and simple shit.
I mean, when Ive read your subject I thought you posted something about other movies/games copying starwars elements and that you think that soo annoying or anything like that.
Kill the one who thought of the title. NOW! |

Well it had to be Lucas.
At least it wasn't called " Attack of the Killer Clones " hehe
Well it is still going to be a cool movie no matter what the title is. |

Actually, from everything I've seen so far (Having an "in" and all...) this one's going to be quite good. The opening sequence alone will be worth the price of admission. There will be al ot of incredible battles and the story is a lot tighter than ep.1...
As for the name, Phantom Menace grew on me, I'm sure Attack will to.

Expect the same as we got from Phantom Menace: an utterly stupid movie that is visually stunning. |

Good grieeeeeeeef!
And I thought The Phantom Menace sounded like a name for a bad Scoobie Doo episode.
George has totally lost it. But then again, I knew that several years ago. I guess he thinks Attack of the Clones will look catchier on the inevitable flood of kiddie merchandise.

Yeah, something like, buy this toy, and you've collected them all! (being that their all clones).
Aww... this is rediculously awful. Think of the possibilities... 5 actors, playing the role of 3 characters each,... wow, that will be the best Star Wars movie yet. Maybe they'll make 1000 clones of Jar Jar talking simultaneously. Oh joy! |

*throws uncontrollable fit of rage at Lucas nonbelievers*
GROOAAAAARRRRR...... :P
What's wrong with the name? Simple straight, and to the point. No vaseline jelly rub candy sprinkle shenanigans! Look at the rest of the names of Eps. I, IV, V, and VI.It could have been like Mandalorian Surprise Party or Sith Strippers Gone Wild! I happen to like the name....
*shuffles off in a disgruntled stumble* |

Actually, I think "The Attack of the KILLER Clones" would make a great title. But Lucas would have to make the movie look like some kind of B-Movie from the 70's.
But if it involves expensive computer animation, lame vehicle design, and bad villains, then count me out. I've lost my faith after The Phantom Menace. George Lucas is too overwhelmed with his 3d animation instead of a deep plot and some character development. |

Come on you guys, there's method to the naming madness.
Lucas is naming his sextology (oooh, that sound kinky) in classic serial format. namely, each title is a chapter name describing the events in a story telling format, and leading into the next title. In this vein, "the clone wars" would not have had any story to it, it would have just been a statement, thus the "Attack"
Check it out.
1) The Phantom Menace (Good mystery intro)
2) Attack of the clones
3)**The Rise of the Empire?** something similar, I'll bet..
4)A New Hope
5)The Empire Strikes Back
6)The Return of the Jedi
It actually works, when you put them all together. |

'Sith Strippers Gone Wild!' would be a comparable name. It would actually be better than 'Attack of the Clones' because it would rake in more people if he uses it,if not for the movie itself than for the people who want to bash it like gLitterbug said. |

Red Leader: i disagree. "The Clone Wars" would have worked much better. well in my opinion anyways. when i see a title with "Attack of the..." in it, its usually a cheesy 50's sci fi or a parody of one. it's a title i can't take seriously. maybe it will get changed. 'return of the jedi' was origonaly called 'revenge of the jedi' so maybe they will do the right thing and change it. i hope. |

I really don't see why people complain about the title being too cheesy. Is "The Empire Strikes Back" or "Return of the Jedi" non-cheesy titles? Do they not evoke a sense of an old sci-fi serial?
See, the thing is, people are so used to TESB and ROTJ's titles that we no longer feel that they sound silly. As a matter of fact, there was just as much complaining when The Empire Strikes Back was announced, if not more.. People thought it was the stupidest title.. but we think it's fine now..
People thought (and many still think) "The Phantom Menace" sounds cheesy, too, but I find that a fascinating title, personally.
I mean, Attack of the Clones just goes with the whole cheesy fun sci-fi serial theme that all the titles have followed. It's certainly not new.
That said, what I don't like is the whole Clone Wars thing.. I mean, do we really need another movie to show direct-to-adult "cloning" and further color public perception of the issue? :P |

Here here, ToastyKen. These are SUPPOSED to be cheezy '30's-'50's titles.
Pretty soon they won't sound corny at all.
However, the "clone wars" were mentioned in the first draft of Star Wars "the journal of the whills" back in the 70's, so I don't think Lucas would really give a rat's ass what the current perception of cloning is. |

Naw, Attack of the Clones is just a stupid title considering what it is a title for. I mean think about it. Does the sound of this title envoke a sense of darkness and comming doom? Does it give you a sense that hope is dwindeling for our heros? Were you ever scared of the stormtroopers? It's a funny title for a movie with a lot of dark overtones. That's why it doesn't work. What was George Lucas thinking? |
