This is shipping to New York immediately. It's not actually what the guy asked for, but he paid me more than I deserve so I did this extra. Came out nicely, IMO. ^_^
This is the gravy.
Comments welcome. I can't change anything now, but I'd love to know what you think.

aw, that kicks ass, reed! great to know you're getting money for you art, you deserve it. don't insects have six legs? the smudge in the center top kind of detracts a bit, i think, but hell, i'd buy it anyway.
love the original commision too.

Thanks, hey!
Ken: I wanted it to look like a dead moth, which is why the "missing" legs, but it came out like a flying wasp or something. Oh well. ^_^ We've got about a bazillion moths in my room -- at night, when the fan is in the window, they fly toward the light and get blitzed into ten pieces. It's awesome. I should sit down and learn a bit of entomology (sp?) for the next bug I draw.
(By the way, I can't reach your email, it's "overloaded"!)
Arcipello: You're my new god, I'll tell you anything. I asked $80 and took a severe beating on shipping costs and materials -- he was very generous though, and paid me much more than I asked. It's costly doing large-format work. That's all I can say, though. ^_^
Egerie: Thanks!
GO: Thanks!
I got several emails asking how much I should (or would) charge for this, and like I said, I asked $80, but now I know better. Since my stuff appeals to college kids, and being sensitive to costs myself, I charge only as much as is needed to finish the work. Plus a little extra to feed myself. Future work of this size will probably go for $150-300, especially depending on where it ships to. Framing (aiieeee!) I don't even go near.
This was a special case where the client wanted a specific image of a specific size, but he didn't mind what medium I used. I went with foamboard -- however, it was only available from a local store in huge (HUGE) sheet sizes, which I cut down. It ended up being worth it. I put myself in the hole money-wise, but I absolutely love the way it absorbs ink. Excellent material, for those interested. ^_^ |

thanx for that Bee, i see im not the only one that finds it hard to put a price on their work, $80 doesnt seem right to me, i think roughly $150 should be the base price for anything as big as the work you do.
i once sold a peice of my work for 150 not sure how many dollars that is? but the guy was very happy with the purchase ad so was i ![](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

Heh heh! I lived in England for a few years, too young to care about money, but I think by now rates are equal. It's like $1.10 for every £. (Damned American keyboards with their damned missing symbols!) Better than the Euro, right?
Back when I lived there, it was 63p to the dollar...
Thanks again for your comments! ^_^ |

Oh man.. You're truly amazing Reed. I certainly should have given you more . It was absolutely wonderful to work with you. I couldn't have asked for anything more.
I'm going to have to save up now for framing.. There's no way I'm going to let the work get mucked up.
These little faces are so cool that I have to include a bunch of them..

Hiya, Max!
Thanks for letting me share this with everyone. And naw, yeah, you paid me more than enough. Now I can brag I've been commissioned, I can tell everyone about it, and my rates can skyrocket. ^_^
Now I'm going to be all embarrassed and shy. Time to watch anime. ^_^ |
