Hey, long time and all that...
been working on him the last 2 days in PS. Was for a coloring thread over at Polycount.
I don't like everything and some small parts could use more work but i'm tired of it.
The original sketch is from Nutsy: ( http://members.rogers.com/ltanor6080 )
i just doodled all over it
and Nutsy's sketch

Very well done. Not a big deal, but the armor seems so much sharper than the rest of the imaging...sort of blurs the rest out a bit. But overall...very well done!

great pic, but I cant really appreciate the whole image as much as the smaller stuff seperatly, I agree with prophet with the armor but the rest of the image is also highly defined, I think the skin and mainly the hand and arm in the foreground could be focused more. Love the sketch, almost more then the rendered image. |

very nice beautiful,
the armour is very cool it looks very shiny and masive good work. one crit I think the face is a wee bit blurry but it doesn't affect the beautiful overall of the picture.

Wow, that is an incredible job. Perfect. I love it just the way it is. I think the arm and hand look just fine. I really couldn't imagine a better "coloring" job. |

the metal and clothes rendering are simply amazing ! but I think the skin is too smooth for an ork and the hair is... ummm... "spaghetti-like" as some of my friends would say ^^;; |

holy jezus , great job
but you should work on his skin. especialy his right hand needs more shading. |

hey, thx all.
The hair sucks yes, don't have much experience at it and couldn't figure anything else that would go with the style of the image.
Was about to do the skin darker and more greasy looking (stronger small white highlights etc) but i don't want to put more time into it. |

Lovely work!
Yeah, the level of texture detail is a bit inconsistent, but it's a minor thing that could be fixed easily. |

Wow, the textures are awesome here. Almost looks like a raytracing, you made him look very 3-d. you've surpassed the sketch, 's my opinion.
Though I think, like a lot of the others here it would seem, that if you put an hour or two into putting contrasts on the face and the hand, the picture would really come together as a whole. Maybe. ![](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

The detail in the armor and clothing are strong enough that I could almost be fooled into thinking this was 3D.
Wonderful job. |

Awesome texture, as has been said before.
Hair looks pretty good, but isn't up to par with much of the rest of the image. It feels like it's lacking in volume. Possibly a bit too clean for an orc who just axed someone? He looks like he just got his hair done at the local beauty parlor; shampooed and conditioned with professional salon products.
I'll have to vote towards the skin being under developed in comparison to the rest of the drawing. It looks too matte, like it's been carved out of clay. It's missing the finer wrinkles and poors of a hand worn from battle. Some feint veinage on the back of the hand and around the bicep could make a world of difference.
Another item I notced was that the rendering of the right food (his right) makes it look thinner than the nicely plumped left foot. The left foot also looks a little odd as well, like the side of the shoe in the front doesn't have any roundness to it and simply gradually declines in to the sole. It's probably the same "look" that's causing the thinness of the right foot.
The scale mail doesn't look to be shaded, or shading correctly. It seems there should be a slight shadow on the right leg from the mail where only a shadow from the thigh exists. The area below the front apron on the scales themselves also appears to be lacking in shadow. It's like some scales are shadowed, and others are not, as if the shadow happens on a per scale basis instead of across the face of each scale.
The blood drip looks too solid, thin it up closer to the end of the drip. The bulb at the end of the droplet should be from the gradual tapering of the liquid, not a solid ball on a stick.
The wood of the axe looks a little like spray painted plastic. A little more grain in the side, and maybe a couple of small notches from the very end would probably look nice.
Feathers look too perfect. Feathers usually have a bit of a saw-tooth edge to them from the "hairs" clumping together. It's damn near impossible to get a feather to keep a constistant angle in the rows of hairs all the way down feather.
Otherwise, awesome work.
I did up an image (using my 1337 mouse skills, since I left my tablet at work), but it seems my web page has fallen off the edge fo the internet-world. I'll try e-mailing it your way. |
