heres somethin i did today in painter 7, the ground still needs a liitle work i think but apart from thats its just about done.

heh. Just "had" to reply with this subject...
Good stuff- there's a lot of motion near the explosion, where the blur and bright light hints at the power of the explosion... The buildings and cars on either side of the street seem to all emanate their own light sources very strongly, taking away some from the visual impact of the blast.
wouldn't want to be that guy... |

i see someone's been watching independence day, eh?
the pic is cool, though the lighting bugs the hell out of me... from the little dark patch at the top of the pic, i'm assuming this is a night scene... now, i realize you were going for the light from the explosion illuminating the rest of the pic, but at the moment the lighting looks more like it was cast by a super halogen lamp on crack rather than multiple explosions and flames... |

ive change the over bight light to some extent, ill post it here instead of editing my first image so you can compare.
BTW should i get rid of the building on the far right, im not too keen on it myself.

Already much much better. Keep pushing it. Along with making the foreground darker, make sure the detail is getting crisper the closer you get to the observer... You've already located the main colprit- the building on the right still looks a bitinsubstantial... |
