You hit closer to the mark than you give yourself credit. I'd be pretty afraid if I met this guy in a dark alley.

ditch the defined cheekbones even more, and make the pits on his lower cheek go in more. that should give him a slightly more thin look. squint his eyes some more, coybows always have very squinted eyes.

Maybe with more wrinkles his skin would get a more "leathery" quality which would probably add to the character a great deal.

Emkah, it looks pretty cool! I don't know what you're talking about. As far as the skin goes, yes, I think adding wrinkles is definitely the way to go, as cowboys are always hanging out in the sun, which gets their face nice and leathery. Also look at Clint Eastwood.

It definitely looks scary! If I met someone with eyes like that I'd run. The only thing I find weird is the neck, not so much just the neck, but the way you have it right now suggests he's naked or wearing a tank top. Perhaps you wanted that way? Keep up the good work.

i just noticed...that eye is way too smooth. (most noticable on the left side) where the iris is located there ought to be a "bump".
[edit]

that is unless the eye is a fake one, in which case it could well be a yellow ball with the word "hello" written on it

I'd run just because of his intense stare.
