Yeah! You should by sorry! Shame on you, you.... you.... picture posting person!
Anyhow...
Ah... There's that lovely blnisselue....
Horribly kitchy piece... But it's got it's charm.
I'm sure all the kids and their parents will eat it right up.
The background is really nice. And that three in the foreground, with that dirty, spotty shading, is just awesome.
I'm not completly sure about the character likeness, but then again... I really don't remember how the main character of Blnissefjellet looks. You've probably got that covered.
Great work as always. |

It's a really nice painting, but it doesn't tell you much what the game is about.

Hey Joachim, I think this image looks really wonderful. Great expressions on the kids' faces. Textures are great, and the background rocks.
The only thing that bugs me is the girls left arm (on our right). It sorta looks like it was originally intended for the back of her hand to be facing us, but then it was changed later (cause the other way she would've been holding it upside down). I dunno, it just doesn't quite jive.
But still, all-in-all, its a great piece, and it makes me envious of your abilities. |

The way that boy is staring at her ass makes me wonder if the title of that game is "INCEST", sub title : "it's not for gran pa only". Well done tho! I mean, very well done! |

[666]Flat: Look carefully at the eyes again. They don't point in the direction of her ass.
Joachim: Great job as usual. We have seen stuff from this game before? I seem to remember the pointy beanies, and rosy cheeks in a similar setting.
The dreamy feeling of it comes mainly from the foreground and for me at least seems to get lost when the eye shifts to the background. When I think about it more carefully it seems to be a colour issue. The foreground snow has a warm feeling to it, due to the subtle yellow used for highlights. I can see some warmer blues in the shadows on the background mountain though. When I look to the background it seems very stark, and loses the charm, instead it is taking on an overpowering distraction. This coupled with the perspective, kind of makes it look like two seperate sections. Also I think that the atmospheric perspective is contributing to this. It seems irregular when I look at the middleground 'greyed out' trees then look at the much clearer background. It 'feels' odd. I say 'feels' because I can't quite put my finger on the reason. Winter air has a different quality to it, so I may be wrong. I'm just throwing some ideas around, anyone else have an opinion?. I'm being a little picky... Hope you don't mind.
It just seems to talk to me at two different levels. As usual though, hands are probably tied by the client. If I remember correctly you have had to do several revisions on this project. The snow on that tree is really good btw.
Hope that helps. |

Hey, I forgot about this one...
Basse, hehe kitchy thx for liking. Character likeness, actually, the new Mnetoppen is a totally different story with totally different characters...and these are the main characters.
jayceel, Thx. Actually it tells a great deal, but not in the sense that you see two people playing. Because it's not the type of game you'd usually think of. It's about these two persons and how they get along and travel over the mountains. So, in my opinion it pretty much tells it all.
tyler, thank you. Yes, I agree that the left arm could be better. somehow the joint on her hand and arm could be more twisted. thx.
666 flat, hehe, well, if you say so
ian jones, thank you. about the foreground and background, I see what you mean and agree. I don't know what I could do about it, to much focus on the background would be wrong, but I guess I could have made it more "dreamy". But, like you said client is happy, so I won't change it also, it's a huge logo in front of the background so it really doesn't bother me that much. But, it's a good point and I agree with you.
thx ! |

Joachim: Cool... I was stepping out on a limb a bit, being a bit picky. you are right, the logo would make a huge difference to that problem. cya round. |

Hey, it's blnissene again
Must be so nice seeing your efforts "out there", in-store, for all to see. I envy you that
I too had the feeling that Ian describes. These are issues I'm concerned about these days, getting the background to "fit" and establish a "general atmosphere". Joachim, I know this is a finished picture, and it's a worthy illustration that will sit proudly on Norwegian shelves, but if somebody can elaborate even further on the inherent problems here, I'd appreciate it. Still learning, am I...
I'll make a single uneducated guess about the slightly (though noticeably) off balance. Is the mountain blue too saturated compared to the general clothing of the front persons? Please enlighten me further, if you can.
I hope this isn't inappropriate, but I'm very keen on learning about this!
Thanks, |

That's a nice picture, Joachim. It has a Hildebrandt feel to it. |

A welcome break from guns, chicks, guns, chicks, chicks with guns, guns with breasts, breasts with guns...
[EDIT - I mean Sijun in general btw.]
I was surprised when you mentioned it was for a game cover. For a game cover it's great, but would work well on a whole variety of stuff, books etc. If there isn't an NDA attached to this one you should hold on to it. Nice work joachim.
Sedone: Hildebrandt? Is that the guy who used to do all the wood cut engravings and illustrations in old books? Or another one?
