Don't think I've ever started a thread, but I figured it might be nice to have something new to depart from gas masks and speed paintings for a while.
Draw your rendition of the Sun God (or Queen), whatever that might be.
and hey, mix it up and do some other gods (moon king/queen, stars, time...)
Here's my sun god.

Hey, this sounds really cool. i'd love to have a go but I have sooo much work.
I'm looking forward to seeing some of the talent on this board express themselves through this theme. |

Whoah, awesome picture, Matt! :) Those colors are so rich and vibrant, and I love all the different textures. Great subject for a thread, as well. I'll definitely try to get something painted. :) |

Wind & Moon
still rough, pretty monochromatic, scribbly and whatnot... thought i'd post it before i mess it up i really need to get back into shape
the story behind the pic (i.e. bad english at work):
Moon likes Smashing Pumpkins a lot, and he was just listening to Gish, drinking coffee, when the Wind passed by. She happened to like Smashing Pumpkins too, so they started to talk about it, finding they have pretty similar interests, although they might seem totally opposite. Moon likes to amuse people, draw, drop small rocks in the river to see the water ripple... Wind likes to write poems, walk on the river early in the morning; she hangs out with Time a lot, too.
Moon and Wind had a son later, Polar- he became the god of polar light, having a bit of his father's and a bit of his mother's abilities.

that hair is beautiful. The most wind-appropriate hair I could imagine. I like how normal yet still godly they seem. |

Maybe this is kind of obvious but I like the strong vibrant colours Isric and also the way you've got him slouched in his throne as though he's bored with being a God. The light pouring from the sun emblem on the throne is a nice touch.
Mr.T, like it. It's not what I would have thought of when thinking of a God/s.
Anyway here's my go, Moon God. Although maybe a Moon God would have his butt hanging out of a car window.

Wicked work guys. I started this because I thought it would be a good creative vent (no reality necessary) and it looks like it's working. Very cool so far.
Here's my Sun Goddess teaching her son (not sure which god he'll be.

Hmmm, interesting topic. I like the motif you have going there, Isric. Very Atlantis-ish. This is a bit of a brain fart. Here she is, soul sista Gaia, earth goddess.

Amazing images. Great work.
MrT: I love that color combination. Great rendering.
Isric: Aren't you working for Disney yet. You have a very animated style.
Here is my quick one:
God of the Stars

rad thread idea, matt .. i'll try and whip something up for it. the images look great, too! an idea, perhaps, for painting gold might be to add the reflection of shapes and colours around the gold object.. i guess they would have to be kind of faint, because gold certainly isnt like chrome, but it can be polished to a pretty shiny shine.
sedone: hilariously cool :] |

sedone, I am REALLY looking forward to more stuff from you. The stuff you did in the gas mask thread was bananas, I can't wait to see what you can do with a god.
This is awsome. I never would have thought of it, your designs always do that to me.
more. now. |

Damn Matt, great idea! And some great pictures in this thread. I've been getting tired of the speed painting thread myself, so this is a nice vacation. Gonna have to whip something up now.
Anyway, on the subject of your favorite movie, Atlantis, how many times have you seen that now? :P |
