great stuff everyone. i like these kinds of threads, so i don't want to see this one die just yet.
~30min, just practicing with colours, the box was a 5 sec sketch.
~30-45min, this was drawn from life.
~30min. i really need practice with drawing people, but i'll show this anyway.

That's my favorite anime; in fact, that's where I got my name from. What a wicked show!

Mr.T, that's excellent for 5 minutes!
S.W. I really like the way you captured so much mood with such simplicity.
This took about an hour:

That one is out of the "total failure" category. Maybe an hour and twenty minutes, most of the time spent fighting with the mouth and failing to reproduce it correctly from the reference.

not too good..from reference, about 45 minutes
about painter. I'm using 6, but i tried 7 at a company for some minutes and it was cool with the water color etc. But! they changed the keyboard shortcuts into something you need 3 arms to use!? Im thinking in particualr of the change brush-size shortcut (which was alt+mouse drag in painter6) which is now alt+shift+ctrl+mouse drag !! |

paladia: yea, the background is exactly the same...
henrik: your style reminds me a lot of craig mullins. i guess the technique is just a consequence (damn my English)... like, the technique takes care of itself if you know the rules. something like that. no needless scribbling.
ehm, i forgot to draw something... |

umm... it just happened to look that way.
it wasn't intentional. I just started to paint things around a sketch of that guy and it just popped to be...and as I was about halfway ready it occurred to me, the alikeness.

20 minute rendition of Mt. Doom. Kinda abstract, but I was screwing around with a lot of tools in Painter I never use.

root88, man i'm the same way with my style, i'll like it then the more i look at it, the more i hate it. I think everyone is like that with their work.
i'm ordering my wacom tablet right now i'm soooo siked about it. that means i can finally join you guys with the quick painting (i HATE using the mouse, and have actually given it a try on a few occasions but it just isn't natural for me)
anyway, just wanted to say good work everyone, and mr. t, you my friend have improved your skills exponentially from the last speed painting class that spooge and those guys lead.
regards,

Root88: glad to see you post! when it comes to style my conclusion was that it is useless to hate it. you can not escape it, you can only evolve it. and that takes time. also, it's good to have an uncommon style... and you have one. There are some crits, just to make this post a bit more balanced . the nose and forehead are pretty much flat, the eyes are blurry. the right one (our left) is kinda distorted. also some crits on the chain- tends to look flat.
replicant: thanks... i learned a lot since then, trying to make my hands understand still one of my rules is to learn something new in every picture i do.
sukhoi: thanks for keeping the thread alive |

Mr. T.: The highlight on the ball is in the wrong spot too. I saw a bunch of errors of course, but if I fixed them, it wouldn't be a quickie anymore. I didn't see much of a reason to keep going with it either. |
