I hope this thread never dies. A 15 minute study of Frazetta's Executioner using the all new Tint brushes in Painter 7.1. They're absolutely amazing.

SporQ, Painter 7 is an improvement in a number of areas. The watercolor tools are vastly improved, the magnifying tool is much better and layers now support "pick up underlying color" so that smeary brushes now sample and smear underlying color instead of just white. That last option is worth the upgrade alone. 7.0 is buggy, so upgrade to 7.1 ASAP.

Sketched this one in Painter and then worked it up. ~1 hour.

thats great, gonna have to upgrade. thats the big thing i hate about layers too, blending with just white. makes layers pretty much unusable except for like a line art layer. anyway, dry ink variant in painter6, half hour. and i hate the right arm, hehe...

He SporQ, nice David Bowie, hitman thing you've got going there!!

He's really cool, I bet he could make an interesting character. The weird, artsy, dry, gayish, hitman that all the other hitmen teases...haha!

15 minutes or so..

Pat, that looks really cool. Maybe I should go and buy Painter. Photoshop tends to make my stuff look very 'digital'

Very "speedy". Less than 5 minutes or so. Mainly a test for being able to post in this forum with my new free webspace provider. Hope you excuse the sketchy character of the work.

oKKun - it's not the tool, but how you use it. remember that. i've seen many people switching thru programs thinking it'll make them paint better.

I agree Mr.T : I've on some occasions done more interesting pieces in paintchat than in painter...

Micke, is something troubling you? Would you like to talk about it? j/k

Maybe there should be a new section to this forum.

Mr.T, I agree that the artistic results might not be improved but from working with games for a number of years I've learned never to underestimate the value of a good toolset.

Total about 40 minutes. Some of you will remember the guy. I read through the old thread and this time I actually followed the instructions. No frantic scribbling, every stroke was placed with care (even though it may not look like that). I still failed horribly, but it was a very enlightening experience, and I should have done that earlier.
I will do it again, that's for sure.

Those are awesome Cos.
Here's what I could muster in 30 minutes:

Heh, hardly the same.
I'm starting to like Painter more than Photoshop. Even though sometimes it's like eating glass.
