Hey everyone, long time no see.
I haven't been posting in forums much lately, as I've been completely bogged down with work.
Who me? Yep that's right, I've been extremely fortunate lately to be working with some of the most well known names in modeling (as you will see below). You may also be seeing some of my work on the covers of some of your favorite publications soon. I can't/won't name names right now, but I'll be sure to let you know when they hit the stands.
Anyway, now on to the painting......
"Predator or Prey?"
This painting features the lovely Veronika of Narcisse.
Veronika was totally nude in the reference, so all accessories you see her wearing in this painting are of my own design.
The background was loosely referenced, with many of my own changes made.
I'm really happy with how this piece turned out, especially seeing as how I've never really tried to realistically paint flora and fauna before. The tree bark was an enormous pain in my ass, but even though it took hours and hours of torturous work, it ended up turning out pretty well (at least in my opinion).
This painting is going to be hung at the Echo gallery in Chicago.
If any of you are or will be in the Chicago area, please stop by the gallery and view the painting in person.
On with the show......
Painted freehand in Photoshop 6 on a 9x12 inch Wacom Intuos tablet.
A closer look
Full resolution cut-outs
Let me know your thoughts.

I love smoothly rendered naked women!
This is a great pic. One thing though... her "belt" looks a little flat to me. Otherwise, excelent! |

She's probably looking towards the source of the enormous light emission which is high enough to reflect on the tree trunk like it was made of shiny metal. That sexy curious biatch... What else could I say than: DANG GOOD JOB!!1 |

Smooth, baby. Nipples with metal scare me though. ![](images/smiles/icon_razz.gif) |

I have to agree with Flat on this, Malachi.
What is goin' on with that tree trunk? It really does look as though it is made of brass. No matter how strong that light source, you aren't going to see wood shine like metal.
The figure is stunning - perfect, in my opinion. But again with the lightsource... she certainly doesn't seem to be placed in the same light as that tree trunk. |

the tree actually looks more like a 3D render to me, very shinny for a tree but good none the less. love the skin tones and smoothness.
i also feel there should be more of a darker lighting on her bum, it looks a little odd as it is.

i actually think the shiny tree bark is kind of cool, although if it was shining that much it might reflect more light on her. what bothered me a little was her face. it might be because her chin protrudes out a little too far? or maybe it's just the model. |

Lovely Stuff. I love how the trees guide my eyes upwards to the figure.
I don't mind the belt (since it's pretty thing). The part where the thigh and the tree intersect seems a little funny. Parhaps some drop shadow from the bark or the leafs may help? Just my 2 cents. (Yeah, I have been staring at the ass quite a bit... ) ![](images/smiles/icon_eek.gif) |

For me personaly it's one of the best pieces i've seen here.
But also i have to agree on the tree part that it's a bit to shiny. |
