It was a long struggle with this image... I've got alot help by leo and mythwarden as you might have seen in the "work in progress"-threat.

I just spend some more hours to fix some of the details in the forground and the sky and just thought to post it as "finished".

Even more critiques and comments are welcome although I will not touch it again.

Great Work.

Some points:

I would apply some texture on the street, it looks so clean.

The clouds are to soft, looks painted.
The fog is bit rough, it looks not like a volume fog. Probably you just over painted the houses in the Background with just one fog layer, you should take some time and adjust the fog for each house. Probably you should add some more buildings in the back, some painted in the same colour like the fog, just lil bit darker. It looks a bit like the city stops where the fog starts.

It would look very cool if you would add some light rays spreading from the highest spot of the city.

Maybe the colour, brightness and contrast could be tweaked a bit too.
I made a fast over painting, hope you don't mind.
However, it is just my opinion.

Best regards
Randis ::

Cool picture... I'm embarking on a similar struggle with an "epic" cityscape... I'm hoping it turns out as well as yours...

Hi, pixtur. Very impressive mood. Good job. How much time did you spend on it? The only weak point I see is imo the sky. It seems, that the clouds follow the contour of the city. To improve my skills, I tried a little paintover.

Andromeda[*] - Thank you. Maybe the "bombed" look comes from my inability to handle the pen ;-)

Lotekk - Thanks. The new pallette works better, but somehow I wonder why this image always tended to this "yellow/brownish" look. Some friend of mine told me "You are what you eat" (Du bist was du ist) If you study Craig Mullins too intensive...

Randis Albion - You are totally right about the street. I already noticed, that to image would look much better, if you turn down the lightness. But I wanted to draw the city on a morning - it's quite more difficult, but more to learn. The overpaint is great!

kaylon - thanx

merlyns - thank you. Ignoring the comments would be stupid, since I did this pic for learnings something.

eyewoo - Your drawing-skills are far behind mine. You'll do well. It's a great way to learn new things. Btw: I really like your way of to draw accurately. I wish I could to this.

francmidi - Thank you. I spend some evenings on it, maybe 10-15 hours at all. I probable overpainted each pixel three times ;-)

Leroy - oh no! Don't shoot me now... I still have so much learn ;-)

pappuftp - thank you.

You clean up real pur-tee

I've been watching the progress of this image, and I have nothing the least bit "constructive" to say. Its just plain nice Thanks for posting its progression. I've been learning alot from others comments about it.

later,
Brian H.

Ahh, the Sijun forums, where people aren't afraid to tell you what they _really_ think of your work

(...sorry, I just can't resist this kind of childish picking, hopefully I'll grow out of it some day )

hahahahaha... just caught this thread after a couple of days...

I don't know pixtur... your stuff looks pretty good to me!

My attempt kinda got away from me and I quit on it before finishing... but now I'm going back after a good night's sleep to do some more work on it.

Your's turned out very well in my opinion.

Very cool. I'm sorry but I don't have anything to add to what has already been said. I like it a lot.
