Hi all, I've got a rather colorful and refreshing pic for you
You've probably seen me around here couple of times but I never really posted much so here it is:
since this is technically my first time I'll give you a little introduction- I live in Canada, I'm 16, I'm only good at anime - anime related stuff and suck at everything else  I'm not really an artist but more of a concept artist and this is a character that I designed and she's just one of the many line up of characters I'm doing. Yes, it's a bit girly but I am following a theme so bare with me please. Enjoy

The Japan/Anime craze really did hit every part of the world didnt it .. =]
Over in my side of the world, it seems that everyone can draw anime ... even if its not they're main drawing style.
Personally, I think the background kinda spoils the image for me ..
The line-work on the girl and her colors are very nice ... but the background just seems wrong somehow ... maybe its the handwriting. hehehehehe. Its very well done .. keep it up!
And just out of curiosity ... how did you get hooked on anime ? |

great character design! i like!
but maybe you could a 'tapered' line in
the head-area somewhere also to have a certain harmony in the linework.
the background is a bit too light i think
-you should add some more blur/airbrush things/forms to strenghten it more.

To answer Andromeda's question:
I used to live in Korea where there were lots of anime so obvoiusly it was a big influence for me. (Evangelion all the way...the best anime ever)

Rob,
It's akiva here! I really love this peice. Kinda reminds me of powerpuff meets anime. I do agree that the background is distracting, probably because the lettering and stars are in a different style than the picture. You might wanna try and add the types of black lines thst you have in the drawing. Keep up the good work.
