BTW Kyri I love the happy/satisfied look on your orcs face with the impaled guys in the background.

Which reminds me I need to make sure my next one has an actual background and something other than a profile for perspective.

Keep the thread alive! C'mon folks everyone here can manage a pic a day.

*Looks around*
Er... Hi everyone.
New to the forums and all... Well, relatively speaking of course - I've been lurking for a little over a year.

I've always been rather fascinated with drawing and painting, so I may as well point out that you lot in here are pretty much all heroes to me (well, more or less). Of course, being the kind of person I am, I can't very well just sit around and admire something, but instead I have to try my hand at it myself. I've had more than one utterly displeasing result during my short time of drawing/painting, and it's taken up a place in my life that's... Well, small to say the least. But then I came across this thread, and it just beckoned me to at least TRY to contribute (hopefully) a picture of my own.

Oh, and I'd like to thank MorbidGuy for this great initiative! It truly is an incredibly inspiring thread, and I'm so glad that I was lucky enough to come across it.

Oh and here's the picture (again. I think I found a good webspace now... maybe)

I'm totally new to this B/W art stuff, so I hope I didn't break any unwritten thread rules or so when making the picture.

*EDIT* It's supposed to resemble Elijah Wood as Frodo from LoTR

*EDIT #2*
Okay, so outside linking can be a pain... Er, I'll just go providerhunting for now.

*EDIT #3*
Hah!

Damn these are some pretty sweet B&W's! These are quick and fun, so I'll have toss up a few.

Keep them coming! ;-)

I've been loving this thread, and I just had to try one of these. This took about 10 min, and it's my first time using a tablet. I'm going to have to take a little longer and do something more like the awesome ones Cos and Morbid have been posting. But in the meantime...

Really great work everyone.

Lightbringer- cheers mate great stuff, especially love the dragon, really nice texture effect you got there.

Lolion- Great looking pic of Frodo. You know I still haven't seen that film, I must be like the only person on here who hasn't. :P

Cos- Love that new hun character man. That's a really great one.

Eric- Great pic. Reminds me of old english victorian art. You have a really nice style, hope to see more.

Boomstick- Love that mignolaish style of yours. I definetely agree that these are a great way to loosen up.

This one was very quick. Not sure if it really belongs, not very medievil really. :P

Woo! Gave it a whirl with another one, the first guy with the huge nose was actually semi-based off a little sculpture I made out of my kneaded eraser with my best friends help =P..Joint projects rule. This was just a little odd..thing..tribal guy, tried some real basic tattoo work to see how it'd come out in the scratch boardish look
if it doesnt work, again http://drunkengoat.8k.com/MaestroBW.jpg

not very good. and not finished either (not sure how best to detail it. how to go about cross hatching on a curved surface without the straight lines ruining the illusion of curve on the neck.) need to detail more, clean up the more wavering lines, and add some cross-hatched mid tones.

PS I know anatomy is off- head shape is off and neck is too long, this was not intended but I used no references and was out of practice.

Well done I guess. I'm already getting tired of the barbarians and monsters stuff I always see on here. Anybody do anything a little bit more mature? No wonder there a so few women on this board!

Wow. Way cool. For all those of you who, like me, have been wondering if it's digital or ink, I went to Cos's link and found out that it is digital. But with skills like those they could have done it in ink as well.
