Okay I'll bite.
Quick character = 1min
Troll = 3min
Young Mage discovering black magic = 4min
I'll try to do some finished ones this weekend, but I can't bet me life on it.
Good stuff guys.
Morbid Guy and Cos - Big thumbs up. |

How are you guys doing this? I'm using Painter 7 and I'm finding it extremely difficult to make those sharp lines.
Are you starting off at a higher resolution and then downsizing it? |

I used Photoshop with default brushes. Image about 1000x800 pixels. Then scaled it down. Not that my hooded guy is full of sharp lines... |

Are you all using wacom-boards or similar, or is this done by pixel-pushing with a mouse? |

"Clich the Barbarian"
catahoochee - Thanks. Yours looks like an old woodcarving, nice.
loftamannen - could you show little bigger version of that drawing, maybe in the stage before you "destroyed" it?
Good work everybody.
Ville

Whoah, great stuff people I didn't expect this thread to get so large. Some very inspiring work from everyone...
crabFish, fireburnspaper, J-Tee - Thanks, glad you're enjoying the thread.
Lucian- Great first try, looks cool, keep going with them. Maybe try some with some shading and getting a bit more experimental.
Rhomb- Great pics man. You have a really nice b/w style.
hunter_rose0 - Real nice warrior pic.
Mr. T- Different technique is working for you. Keep going with it.
Cos- Love that zombie pic man.
BooMSticK- Really great style on that last one, like it alot.
Novacaptain, catahoochee, Scourvensen- Very nice stuff.
loftamannen- Really like you're style. I think you're right about destroying your pics, it's easy to get set on one style, good to shake it up a bit too sometimes, I need to do a bit of destroying.
Phil- You're quick man. Very cool work.
TossMonkey- Not too sure with painter, maybe someone here that uses it can help.
andreasj- Great pic, I like the contrast of detailed and plane areas, really nice style. Hope to see more.
Basse_Ex- Using a wacom myself, although I did a lot of this type of stuff with a mouse in the past, prefer some of it to the pen ones, come out more raw, sometimes the accidents can be cool.
PixelPeZ- Very cool, considering you haven't drawn many humans before, maybe try blocking in some stronger whites in areas for contrast perhaps.
Cicinimo- I think your one is really nice, really like your loose sketching style.

I'll jump in on this too... seems so darn fun...
malador
The problem is that I don't have a wacom, so I did it the old-fashioned way, with my trusty old Windsor&Newton series 7... which was alot harder than I expected... but I think I pulled it off in the end. |

Ok, here is my second try. This is a peasant worker. Tell me what you think. Improvement?
I went away from my profile view, (sucked) and tried something totally different. Still haven't figured the shading out yet, but I will keep working on it.

All of those are impressiv, really. I really like this b/w style and the way all of you play with the light to reveal the shape.
Here is my modest contribution, done after seeing your inspiring work...

Second attempt:
not sure if it works better with or without the crest along the neck: [UPDATED] Crest looks better. Older image removed. [/UPDATE]
