Hey cos, what are you doing yours with? Software or traditional pen/ink? I can never get photoshop or painter to have nice tapered lines/sharp points. Setting the minimun size in painter or checking the size box in photoshop doesn't really work that well. I don't have my Winsor Newton series 7 brushes with me, so I have to rely on software to do mine. |

I was just about to ask you(Or you all) that very same question.
So how do you all do these pictures, ink or computer?
Anyhow, amazing pictures...
... and Lunatique?... Shuoldn't you know better than to leave your Windsor & Newton series 7? |

Rhomb- Great pic! Love the style, really cool. Glad you could join us.
BooMSticK- Very cool pic man.
Cos- that last one is one of my favourites. Detail is awesome.
Basse_Ex - These are digital done in photoshop, just blocked, or sketched in black
then work in the detail, carving out shapes with white.
masticator- Glad your enjoying the art. Cos is kicking it.

Glad you guys are liking the work. For the people that asked about the process of how these are done and anyone else interested, I put together some inprogress for two of the images I did, showing steps of what I described above. Nothing complicated really. I hope this makes it clearer and can help.
Novacaptain, hope your feeling better now.

So here is my first try at this sort of thing. I just did a quick sketch, horrible facial anatomy, guess I should have sketched it first, but I wanted to show you guys anyways. |

Hey Kyri that last one is awesome!!
luna- using photoshop with standard brushes, same way Kyri is doin it pretty much. Sketch and/or block, carve your shapes and clean edges as you're going, get a good balance of bw (main thing), then add xtra detailing. Try and approach it a little more like painting with a b/w palette in the finishig stages rather than traditional inking.
Nova- hehe, u such a cutie

Kyri - solid work on that last one too. Very good and informative inprogress images.
Cos - mad details you've got there!
BooMSticK - cool zombie/great angular style. I got influenced, so here's another guy on vacation from the grave.
Novacaptain: haha, cool splatters =)
Lucien - Nice. Just do more of them. The fun thing with these is that you can try things/make modifications quickly.
Lunatique - what do you actually mean when you say that you can't get tapered sharp-end lines in Painter? What type of brushes did you try? I don't know if this is what you're looking for but here's the brush setting xml file (P7) for the brush I used with these drawings, if you or anyone else want to try it.

I've been looking at all the images posted here, been following this thread and I just want to say I'm really impressed with everything I see. Morbid Guy & Cos, you guys are really great - I mention you two since the two of you posted so many great pictures here - but it goes for everyone posting in this topic. It's great inspiration, my fingers are itching. I just wish I could contribute but it turned out I wasn't good enough (yes, I gave it a try but it was a long time ago I did this kind of thing and I'm not yet fully comfortable with my wacom tablet - excuses excuses )
Anyway, keep 'em coming - I want to see more!

wow...These all look so great. They remind me a lot of the artwork found in the whitewolf rpg books...especaially the vampire series. Actually these are better.
You all rule. Boomstick I like that executioner...he has cool body hair and it is of a stylish quality that seem to fit into very twisted (and well illustrated) childrens books.
Cos, that's amazing! If i didn't know better i'd suspect you worked part-time in a morgue.
T that is so nice, wonderful nose...i like the fine details.
hunter, nice pic, the sword looks cool, it could use more of a handle though.
loftamannen haha, cute little dude you have there.
rhomb that's freaky...he seems to have that oh-so-appealing skeleton grin...
Lucien, neat. Do another..try non profile
Morbid, good idea starting this thread, and the steps are very educational. Thanks for sharing them.

Ok..congrats to all, those are all great, and Mr. T? KEEP GOIN'!!!! I LIKEY! Same basic technique but massively different style than the others, AH LOOOOVE IT! |

What you guys really need to learn is how to DESTROY your B/W drawings...
phew.. it's easy to make nice pictures...but can you destroy them?? This is a demonstration on how to do it...it took me several years to reach this far..
AND I HAD TO USE COLORS!!!
