Just finished this. I think I'm getting a little better. Still need to practice though.

Wow!!! Brilliant texture!! Looks really good.
Would be better though if the image was smaller so that we could see at least most of it on screen without having to scroll so much.
and ...that...thing...in the middle.....well it kinda reminds me of..uh....a girl's "bits"
hehe |

Nice technique!
did you use Photoshop?
My only CC would be that I think you should put the same level of design and detail that you did on the face, on the neck. The face has all this weird cool structural stuff and then suddenly it comes to an end at the neck. Makes it seem like this creature is wearing a mask. Take a look at the image I'm posting. I simply copied and pasted some of the facial detail into the neck and shoulders and you can see how much of a difference that makes.
Hope that helps.
Kamal

Thanks for the comments.
Scylla, sorry so large, I just upped my desktop to 1280x1024 and I forgot to make it smaller. I'll be more considerate if I post again.
Kamal, I see what your saying. I was trying to make the neck rough looking. well mabey it was just laziness. That was the last thing I detailed. I'll try something with that soon.
To answer your question, no I did'nt use Photoshop. I use Corel PhotoPaint. I know that must be a sin in here. I use CorelDraw at work so, PP is what I have, and I am more familiar with it. Why did you ask though? Just curious. |

OOO ... the fine detail is really nice. Is it texture or did you really get in there and paint the little bumps and scratches @_@?
Some glowy alien eyes or eye or something would add a little more interest? Unless your going purely for that organic boney look. |

Whew, I love the detail/textures... I could look at it the whole day and still find new aspects well done! |

systemid,
all the textures were done by hand. I would'nt know how to do it any other way. just alot of little scribbles and scratches with 1 and 2 pixel brushes. I did do some very light touches with the contrast and dither tool at the finish. |
