I finished an anime style Fanart of Satsuki from Clamp's "x" series.
I haven't had time to do a decent complete CG for myself in awhile .. so here it is :O

kantide > Thxs man. Lately I've been having more energy to get some personal CGs up. I'll do my best
Mr crowley> m0m Thxs!
Asurfael> I guess the look I was trying was to get the "look like it came from anime" feel. Usually backgrounds and inanimate objects are painted with soft shading. I agree it's a style thing and maybe I'll be safer with just cel shading for the machine.
Nevanlinna> The metal gear is something I want to do sometime ** I love tech stuff.

Nice pic, some great rendering and colours. I defintely think you should explore your soft-shading technique a lot more, it is really good. I love the machine. The chair is cool, and the aqua surfaces are a great use of colour, they really add extra interest. Nothing to crit really (well maybe the colour and shading of the lights?), the Design seems to work well. Keep it up! |

I think its really cool... the only thing I have a hard time with is the tp of her head.. when Im looking at the image I really want to see the hair and the top of her head.
other than that its pretty cool |

Yay, that's really nice, great cel-shading. I agree with Awetopsy about the top of her head, though, would probably work better with the head intact.
Props for doing X! Love the art in that series. |

Hey - that's neat! Nice composition too!
The only crit I can give is:
* The mecha looks a little bit smudgy - maybe cleaning it up and defining the light a tad better would help the image.
* The lights on the mecha don't look like there bright, or emitting light. Some interactive light on the immediate surroundings could work nicely.
* And finally, cleaning up the seems/lines on the mecha would be nice too
wheeeee! |

Ian Jones > Thank you! Yeah .. only recently have I really been trying to get my anime style "Painted backgrounds" look. The shading of the lights I agree with . .I wasn't sure what to do with it .. because when designing the machine I only had a profile shot of it and I didn't know what to do with that. The room was way too dark to figure out where lighting was comming from so I made it up.
Awetopsy > ^^ Thank! I agree.. now that I look at it more I wish I finished the top of the head a bit more. Maybe not all the way .. because I wanted the viewer to see the metal arc that is surrounding the machine and still get the impression that it is up there. But It cuts short the hair.
Kig > Thank you m(_)m Good to see some people actually follow that series ^_^;; I know of a lot of people who know what X is .. but really don't even know what the series is about.
Loki > Thxs dude
Hmm .. you mean you can see the paint edges on the machine too much? Okie .. I'll try to add more a gradienty effect next painting. I guess I'm so used to anime style cuts that the painting softcel style is hard for me to jump into this quickly. It kinda looks like a head .. but beast isn't a mecha .. it's just a giant computer with a seat on the top. That wire in the front I tried to make it foreground. Maybe I should blur it a bit to give it that effect more. |

Hey Sys!
No I mean the choppy gradients on the bottom and front of the machine - I can see the brush strokes - which might be not desireable on a surface like that. The more even, the better ... ![](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |
