Vertigoblack- For dark skin, there's sometimes a purple sheen to it. Also, for some Africans, the concentrations of their skin pigment forms a highly reflective surface, and you get a lot of surrounding colors reflected off of it.
If you have any questions, just ask. I'll be happy to help anyone. I'm still learning myself constantly, and I wish someone would be my teacher!
madmouth- The reference was waaay skinnier. I already bulked her up a lot. ![](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

Joachim, I believe he painted it using the "palette knife" tool in Painter ![](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

This sucks. Absolutely horrible.
Not the picture, the fact that I didn't paint it...
Good job. |

Joachim- Heheheh. What GiTcH said. "Digital" palette knife, bro. I haven't touched real oils for almost a year now.
SystemId- I used to only use the knife for roughing things up, but after this piece, I've learned to paint some crazy details with it too. It's so much harder to work with, but it gives you a nice spontaneous look that's unique.
Gimbal8- Thanks. |
