Hi all, heres an image I made yesterday in Photoshop. Images like this are a good inspiration for me, if you look at it from a distance a while all sorts of strange things start to happen.
All comments are welcome.

since you put your copyright in the corner I suppose you had the permission to use all those artists works in your picture? |

Yeah, I called up Leonardo, and he said it was OK.
Seriously though, of course not. And I must say I dont care. I think artistic freedom goes all the way. If someone would come and claim a part of this image as their own I would find it ridiculous, because having other works and pictures in the piece was kind of part of the idea. And thats not a copyright in the corner, thats just my signature. |

But seriously though, taking a side in this debate (if we are actually debating) I say artistic freedom is about expressing one's self freely without restriction, but the way you explain it it seems like artistic freedom is about sharing images freely which would sound nice in a kind of utopian society but since we are in a democratic world it just sounds like stealing.
AHHH I talked too much again, I like the picture though, I honestly don't care if it's taken from other artists. The distorted ripple effects (if that's what it is) on the top left corner bothers me, cause the style doesn't stay consistant with the rest of the pic. |

/me puts on his flame-retardant suit in preparation for the inevitable flaming. I'd do it myself, but I'm trying to cut back. :P
As for the image... err... I'm not one that generally enjoys photo-manipulation. Unfortunately, this is no exception. :P It really just like a page full of filtered photographs. It lacks 'class' in my opinion. |

Well, its not that I think that artistic freedom is all about using other peoples images, I just wanted to make a statement that in art, anything goes. Also I think that people in general are too obsessed with their possessions. If anybody would like to use the image I made for commercial purposes, you are free to do so. I dont care if you make an extra buck on my account.
Thanks for the critique though Fate, I tend to agree about the twirl effect.
And Pixelsoldier, Im sorry that I couldnt produce a "classier" picture for you. Maybe you could show me how its done?

Photo manipulation is good if the images are your own, but i dislike the usage of other peoples work (dead or alive, old or new).
The picture itself has a nice dark gothic and semi Sci-Fi look, its just a shame ou didnt use your own drawings and photo's. |

You know, if I took that image up there and was somehow able to sell it for $2,000,000, I think you would be taking back everything you said. Atleast in anger.
Anyway, about the actual piece: I like the color choice, but I don't see how all of the elements come together. I see a squirrel and a space ship, and no relation between the two. Photo-manupulation isn't my forte and neither is art interpretation, so maybe this has some deeper meaning I'm not seeing? Or it could just be a fun filter test. I never know these things |
