These look really good. My only suggestions would be:
1. Try to keep paper cleaner.
2. Use a simpler shading technique. See Greg Pros work for what I'm talking about --- sorta.
3. Perphaps, use some darker pencils.
The forms are really quite nice. But, yeah I think it look more professional if you just used a simple line shading and then on the ones that you wanted to spend the time do a more complex rendering.
But.. this is just my opinion and of course would be depedenant on needs of drawing.
Thanks for sharing these. |

Awesome, as always.
And I must say, as utterly unbelievable as this may sound, I agree with what Light had to say.
But just for piece of mind, remind everyone of exactly how old you are, Mr. T. ![](images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif) |

Light:
1. i totally agree on this matter, and i'm always trying to keep it as clean as possible.
2. simpler shading technique- i don't agree on that. the problem is that the stuff i draw is usually too small. the full page (first two pics) is a5. have in mind that the scan killed most of the shading.
3. this one can do a wide range of values and i'm happy with it. it's a technical pencil tho, but it suits my technique quite fine.
none of these sketches took more than 10 minutes.
thanks for the comments folks.
pixel: yes i just turned 16 but i prefer not to use it as an excuse
thanks for the comments |

Nononon, I didn't mean use it as an excuse, I meant BRAG about it!
You don't need any excuses for your work - it speaks volumes, especially at your age. I asked you to remind people of how old you are because I find it amazing that your foundations are already so solid. |

heh
Molako_Plus: "cuz most of the time i can't seem to draw what i see in my head" - that happens to me often too. but the thing is, the more you learn, the more of that stuff you're able to draw. it's a simple equation.
pixelsoldier: i'm a really lazy person... lately been pushing on the whole drawing thing to get the foundations. still have lots to learn but i'm glad someone thinks i'm making progress. thanks
i slapped some quick colors on one of the sketches:

dude, those are all awesome. the top one reminds me a lot of that movie, city of lost children.
i dig the mechanical feel on the robots. geez, i wish i was still going to high school so i could slack off and draw during class. *sigh*
great work! |

These look very good, as usual. I like the face-implant. It'd look more "interesting" IMHO if the flesh was even more distorted and pulled where the implant is attatched.
I think your shading technique is pretty sweet...maybe you ought to try out some of those markers that concept designers tend to use. |

16...guh..
Damnit! I'm going to draw my arse off until I get better than that. Then I can bully you around 'cuz I'm a year older than you. Nah nah
Seriously, these drawings are really awesome. I'm sure you give your teachers heart attacks with what you draw on your assignments, if anything. Have you had anything published in school magazines or comics? |

awesome it looks like you really enjoy drawing. i think i like these drawings so much because they're so explicitly, technologically morbid, in a curious sort of way.
i see your work having an amazing amount of potential, but being able to benefit from some formal instruction. you'd improve a ton if you took figure drawing classes. the 2 main things i took from mine [and am still learning, since i'm currently in a class] are [1] how to shade effectively, like using cast shadows vs ambient shadows to describe volume and [2] getting a 3-dimensional image of the human body in my mind, so i can imagine a pose on paper and make it work accurately.
another thing is that your body armor is so rigid.. i myself am trying to learn to draw that stuff, and the idea artists keep telling me is that it should complement, imitate or enhance the forms of the human body, making the creature wearing it look more scary or prettier or something. it helps the design look better if you know where the muscles and things go, so you can design the outfit to look better and work like it could be worn easily.
anyway.. just trying to help you out

yur only 16?!?!?
dont u dare use it as an excuse cuz im 19 and your my inspiration man. WoW... looking at this tells me to get the F off my lazy fat ass and start drawing more.
is it possible to have an over-developed imagination compared to my skills?....cuz most of the time i cant seem to draw what i see in my head.
or is it just me?... ![](images/smiles/icon_wink.gif) |

I bet your teacher says,"Excuse me, Mr. T! But is there something that you would like to share with the class? Hmm.. Uh.. On second thought you keep that to yourself."
Great Work, Mr. T. I pity the foo who can't draw better than you. (and is older than you)
Try making a guy with a who has a got a mouth, where you can fit in a gas nozzle. I think that would be great cover art for a paper on the US and petroleum. Of course if that kind of sadistic stuff isn't your thing, just keep up the good work. |

wow, thanks for the replies
sweetpea: didn't see that movie yet, trying to find it for some time now. thanks.
jenn:
novacaptain: i'll try the flesh distortion in the next sketches. and about the markers... i think it's pretty hard to find decent ones here, but i'll look around. would like to give them a try
bloodstone: never published anything. we don't have a school mag, so... there's still time tho
nova: you betcha they're not as morbid as i want them to be, still have to work on that. the problem here with the figure drawing classes is that there aren't any. i try to draw from life as much as i do from mind, sketch from tv, etc. thanks for the help.
tek9z: 10q
damnpuppy: that kind of sadistic stuff is exactly my thing i'll sketch it later today. |

In my opinion you dont need any refs, you may fall into the "out of the mould" category when we see machines and cyborgs. We see all the same repetition of mechanisms and parts on most concept work today. The thing I love about your work is it is very unique, of course youre bound to have some influences etc but seriously stuff from your head is what will get you noticed. Although I do admit it is good to have some refs to get your mechanical drawing really sharp, just dont borrow too much and stick with your "components" Very cool, I have to say I thought you were 19 - 20 the grasp of form and space you have at your age is an invaluable asset that will set you streets apart of anyone your age, keep it up and you will be a great success one day... one day, how about now Good luck and keep up the wicked work. |

Wow, awsome sketches. It's rather eery though... I have been working on a painting that looks very much like those cyborg pictures of yours for the eatpoo contest. You do it so much better than me though. ;O) |
