Thanks Egerie. It's funny that you mentioned the lips because she actually gave me very tight specs about how they should look like..

Looks great.
I really like the colors you've used in the skin.

The only thing I would change is to lighten the neck area a bit or define it more.

Cheers!

I was just cruising this portrait for critique, and all of a sudden I felt an overwhelming urge to eat it. What's wrong with me?

Sweet colours, delicious brushhandling, tasty form. My mouth is watering. But hey - there's something about his eyes... too close? Nah... hm.... is his right eye(-socket) too much turned towards us? Hmm... I want that eyeball.... yummie...

Can't wait for the dessert!

mindsiphon - Thanks! I'll think about the neck.
Torstein - lol. I hope you didn't break your monitor. I agree, the eyes bug me too. Have to tinker with them little more.

This is truly magnificient. It's has very nice rendering and colours.

About that eye issue, maybe if you would add few details elsewhere in his face the eyes wouldn't jump out so much?

Good work mate!!

Wow. Absolutely wonderful. Breathtaking!

Though - I think Torstein may be onto something with his comment about the placement of the eyes. Maybe they aren't too close togther, but something there is...I dunno.

Man! What an amazing portrait!

The return of Fabio?

cool rendering, really awesome colours, and brush strokes too. I like it. Some of the colours are a bit too sickly, just a smidgen to obvious imo (the yellow around the nostril in particular). There is a fine line between the skin colour, and face paint... if you know what I mean.

I think the eyes are just a bit too deep into the head. The sockets also look slight turned towards the viewer, as someone already mentioned. Compare to two eyes, and you'll see any mistakes, also flip the image horizontally. That will surely be of use.

Hope that helps

I like your technique, and you've got nice control of color and technique. Maybe you could increase the contrast a little in the areas where the hair is casting shadows on the face?

My only real concern is that for an "elf boy" I don't see the elf or the boy. I see a 35-40 year old man. If you want to show that he's an elf, he needs more "elven" features, and he should definitely look younger. Maybe show a pointed ear poking through the hair?

I made some corrections here and there according to the comments given. Still not too happy about it but hopefully the eyes are more bearable now.

Eorand - Thanks buddy
bearsclover - Thanks for commenting. I'm glad you like it.
Ian Jones - . Very insightful and valid commnents, thanks.
Andrew - Thankyou. I did some fixing with the hair shadows too. And yes I should have put the "elfboy" in quotations. I wanted him to look just little more weathered and experienced than your usual elf, and the elven features to be more subtle (as they were in LOTR movie I think). Therefore the ear pointing through the hair would have been little too much. But again these are just matters of opinion. Thanks again.

Very nice 'brush work'. I always like the digital painting to still look like paint...otherwise we might as well be morphing photos...

I have one crit, that his forehead looks very tall...gives him a bit of a thinning hair look. Might be contributing to the percieved 'age' of the character...

nice work tho..
