i've spent about 9-10 hours on this so far. I'm pretty happy with it, although the final cropping maynot include the whole body, just the head and hands. it allows for more focus on the bonobo.

Spent about 2 hours fleshing it out, another 3 hours or so adding secondary detail to the head and hands, then another the rest noodling the head and fur on the body.

wanted to keep this really short and quick, but it just evolved more and more as i kept working on it.

i wanted the focus to be mainly on the head, then the hands and the rest of the body. I'll probably add another slight level of detailing on the body fur and clean up the edges before i'm done, hopefully only another few hours work.

some details and the original sketch

it's excellent, could do with a little more work on the textures but you've said that yoursefl. My only other suggestion would be to lighten the background a little to make the monkey stand out even more.

Is his hairline really that weird? Because it seems to me that he has hair on one half of his forehead but not the other. It looks odd.

This painting has really evolved since the first time I saw it. It's looking very good.
