Painted with Painter 7. For the tutorial on this piece, go to the WIP section.

That's pretty darn good luna, the well defined shapes are something i didn't expect to see actually. And who'd have thought? a finished picture for once
I think that the skin looks unnaturally pale and cold. I really liked the tutorial too...i hope this becomes a trend
Keep up the great stuff. |

I like the legs best , the rest of the body and the almost hidden face are a bit flat in comparision... |

Nicely done... though I'd take the opposite position to jeromoo. I think the leg looks a little as if it's made of plastic, while the rest of her body looks like flesh.
Also, her face is both a little small and too low. As is, her forehead would be quite large under her hair. I've done a paintover below to illustrate what I mean...

Nice work!
I don't have a problem with the skin tones. It depends what part of the world you're from I guess, and what you're used to seeing. there are plenty of folks out there with pale skin - anyway - just look at some great master's works.
Maybe it was an intention to make her look cold? plus it gives a good sense of the sort of light in the room. Additionally of course, light is bouncing up from the white sheet, too.
My only criticisms would be it'll be nice to see the bottom left of the picture worked on a bit more as it's a bit distracting to me, as seems unfinished. could be the contrast between the olive brown and the blue (warm/cold colours) I would have thought that there would be some shadowing in the face, because of the hair it does seem a bit flat there, but most of all - what's happened to her feet?
I think it's a shame they're not there. it would have made a better composition. judging by the way it is composed and the attention to other areas, it looks like you want our eyes to focus on the upper body?
Nicely executed, though! Good sense of weight great foreshortening on the left thigh.
thanks for letting us see it,
Jez |

I think eyewoo pointed out some of the concerns.
I also "feel" that her upper arm is a little too straight, rigid, and maybe a tad long. The shoulder area may need worked on too.
Hmm.. I don't know maybe more of the butt should be showing..
I'd just try to fix the face and maybe touch up the leg. This is a nice piece and would be worth fixing a bit.
It might be good to extend the front foot back too for compositional reasons. |

Nice one,
great technique, but I can't help it, for me there is a shadowing around her armpit and breast missing, the cut between the armshadow and the soft shadow around the breast is to hard. The breast would be modelled better with some deeper shadows. It could be me.. |

Novacaptaini Thanks. I wanted the painting to have a cold look.
Dryfire- I think it might be because her tummy area's got bounced light from the bedsheet, so in comparison, her back seems darker.
jeromoo- I think so too. I need to fix that.
eyewoo- I originally did her face too small, and I went ahead and fixed it once already. But it looks like it's still too small.
Your drawing of her head is a bit off. I went ahead and did one myself too see how much bigger it should be:
The yellow is where it's at right now, and the blue is where I think it should be. The pale color is when the two colors converge.
jezelf- I faded out her feet because I wanted that "incomplete look," but it looks like I overdid it? The bottom left of the bed is my attempt at the "incomplete look" again. I think her face could use some shadow too.
Light- I think you are right about that. I drew out where I think it should be above. What do you mean by more of her butt? As in, more of an angle?
The Fritz- I think it's the bounced light from the bedsheet that canceled it out. This is one of those decisions between technical accuracy and aesthetic choice. I might have chosen the wrong choice!!

I agree with most of the comments about the skin tone. The figure is excellent but she appears to be wearing a full body stocking.
Her skin needs faint blemishes such as freckles and such particularly if you are going to leave the skin that pale (nothign wrong with pale skin, but pale skin displays blemishes far more noticeably). Slight variations in skin tone and brush direction would help too. The uniform shine and direction of shadow and light on her body is what gives it that shimmering stocking look.
Aside from the skin, however, the figure is wonderful. |

Hi Luna
I think you have developed a very nice techique. Isn't Painter just bloody great for blending?
I really like the soft look around the bent leg and butt but somehow that look is lost around the moving up the figure. I gets very sharp and is not really consistant with the soft look.
Also there seems to be a lack of consistency in contrast. Again contrast is great around the lower part of the figure but rather vague on the upperpart - which makes is rather flat in that area.
Lastly I think the lightsource could be better define. I have a hard time figuring out where the light comes from... Looks abit like a 'fotoflash' light right now. How about moving the light more to one of the sides?

Gorgeous, Lunatique =]
I actually -like- her skin tones. Yes, maybe in reality, she would have freckles, flaws, and more inconsistencies in her skin tones... but this isn't reality. She is beautified and immortalised... I don't think she has to be absolutely photo realistic for that. Just my personal opinion though =]
The -only- thing I can say about the skin tones, is that I might have liked a soft blush of red in places, like the old masters used to do. Not distinctly, but just there, you know? (on her butt, perhaps, and her knees? Very, very faintly.)
It's very lovely, though, and I'm not sure it even needs that =] |

Enayla- Hehehe. Rosy butt cheeks.(from a good spanking?)
geelimp- I like! Yours has a lot more "substance" than mine. The color scheme is more down to earth too. I like the glare in the picture glass and the cast shadow on the wall too. Good one! |
