zorglub,
Yeah I was gonna go back and fix that ear. I guess I just got too lazy to actually do it. I know it's takin' something out of the actual painting, though. As for the hair...that's really going to be something that's gonna plague me until I figure out a good way to do it. I'm new to this stuff, so painting hair has been a trial and error learning process (this is the third version of her hair). I know I went a little overboard on the individual strands, but once I find that balance, I'm sure a couple of strands will add some more detail to a pic.
I really couldn't find any good hair tutorials for wavy hair like she had in the pic. That's why I had to try and do it on my own. Thanks for taking the time to look at it. I do agree with everything you've pointed out too...I'm just not at the level to fix it easily
saladbowl,
Actually no you're not the only one. I hear that a lot from more men that I would have imagined. individual tastes vary wildly, but I really don't consider them weird because they're different
flat,
thanks ![](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

Pretty good work! I think the nose could use some work in the area where it joins the forehead though.
And NO, you arent alone, saladbowl! |

Shut up Britney Haters!!! hehe, just kidding. I only did this because I knew people either love her or hate her. That way I figured if I did it right, even the those that don't care for her would think it looks like her ...Well that's how I convinced myself to go to britney.com to look for the pic anyway
Yeah, you're right, that does have an abrupt connection on the bridge of her nose. I didn't catch that. I'll see if I can just tweak that real quick. I've already started another piece (in the WIP forum), so I may throw this on the back burner.
Thanks for the help. |

Lookin' wonderful, my man!
My only suggestion would be to make her hair quite a bit less yellow. Blonde hair isn't actually yellow. It is a very light brown with light grey interlaced to great the illusion of a nearly white colour. Britney has a dirty blonde look, meaning you need a lot more browns in her hair as well as some purer whites. In my opinion, her hair looks like a banana right now.
Don't get me wrong, I think it kicks ass. You got the likeness smack on. I just think her hair should be less yellow is all. ![](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

Hey guys, This is the finished version of the Britney Spears painting that I posted in the speed painting thread. I added another two hours or so onto the time (total about 3 or 4 hours). I actually did the hair this time (actually it's the second time I redid it). I also touched up the face a little (the eyes and nose mostly). Anyway, here's the pic.
I think I'm gonna venture off into the world of non referenced digital painting (coloring some of my own drawings) for a while. I learned a lot doing this one, but I'm gonna go practice some other basic elements, and return to portraiture when I have a better grasp of digital painting. Thanks for taking a look, guys.

Wow that's really cool. It really looks like her. The only minor detail you could fix is the ear (it looks kinda detached from the head) and the hair (it doesn't have as much dimension and depth as the head). Also you should probably avoid drawing individual hair strands.
Great job overall |

Yeah, the hair color is another thing that was really troubling me (actually all of my color choices were off ). In the reference pic that I used the hair color was actually had some more yellow that it usually does I imagine. Almost like it was dyed lighter, or something like that. But I still have a bit too much yellow going on in there, though. Thanks for the tip. ![](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

Thanks for taking a look, guys.
Thuduil,
Yeah I think the eyes are kinda sagging. I couldn't tell if it was just the reference photo, or if I just screwed it up (I'm betting on a little of both ). I think that if I did a little more work on the other eye as well, it may balance out a bit.
The Fritz,
Yeah, that's the hair tutorial that I learned the most from...Bet you can't tell by looking at my hair, huh?
scylla,
LOL, thanks. I really appreciate the comment. I guess there's a bit more overflow of anti-Britney sentiments on this board eh? ![](images/smiles/icon_wink.gif) |
