Here is a site that is 100% coded by hand and has flash animation.
I received a very good grade for the site but I was foundering what you guys thought of the design?
I'm hoping that I will get a better response than my last site I posted but who knows.
Remember that the form will work and will send to my E-mail but don't send it because it is fake too.

Here is the link:

the red on green combination, the small text and all the quickly moving things make it really painful to read and distracting. did flash need to be used for this project? i understand using it if it was necessary for the project, but otherwise it doesn't really seem to be needed in this case.

ha ..

this is what you'd call a typical beginner - geocites web. If you really HAD to use all those elements, then I guess it's ok, but if you'd even think about using them on your personal site I'd come over and bite you on the toe.

You can use a combination of flash, banners and other graphics in a tasteful manner aswell

i have to admit, this thing was pretty gharish. even for a newbie. frames for the sake of frames are never a good idea. and the top frame was huge, even though the flash inside it was not. i can't believe that you got a good grade on this. i'm sorry i can't. if this was just to see if you could portray information on the net, then i would give you an a. (even though i'd never suggest a black background for an informative site) but as far as design goes, there really was no design.

first of all, on that top frame, you should have specified the exact size of the flash as the size of the frame. then, in the body tag, put
margin:0px;padding:0px;
that'll make sure there's no padding around the flash.

in the body tag of the main page you should use this.
background: url(njit_back.gif) #000000 50% 100% no-repeat fixed;"
that'll place the background image in the middle of the page, make it so it doesn't repeat, and also make it stay put and have the text scroll by it.

for more css tips, you should stop by webmonkey.com for a lot of helpful tutorials. or visit devguru.com for a complete list of commands for css2. it's a powerful tool, and you seem to have a good start on it. but you need a lot more practice.

Yea I kind of thouht that the flash and the frames would be the thing that people would not love a lot. They were kind of a requirement and I did not want to change them because I waned to see the difference between what people in class thought and what you guys/girls thought.
I'm glad for the advice because the next site I will make I will try not to use frames and to tame down the flash to not be so distracting from the information being pratrayed.

hamilton - I tryed some of the codes you mentioned
(in the body tag, put
margin:0px;padding:0px
and it didn't seem to work. I must be doing it wrong so I will try it again.

i think you're missing the point. although some people have something against flash, the fact that the site uses flash is not what makes it a bad design. you can use flash and have a good design. i'm no expert, but if you have a good color scheme, good readability, and straightforward but interesting navigation you would have a much better site. and if you plan on using flash, you should probably make sure your site actually needs it. it you're just designing a site with simple mouseovers, you probably don't need to use flash. if you have some kind of interesting animation then flash might be the best way to go. but don't just add all kinds of moving crap because you want to use flash, make sure it adds to the site in some way.

Did you ever see the Episode of the Simpsons where Homer decides he needs to make a webpage? Well...before making a gossip page, he basically makes a page completely full of cliches. I'm talking dancing hamsters, flying toasters, spinning icons, everything.....

All. On. One. Page.

I kind of get that feel from this.........Flash shouldn't be so in your face all the time. Either have an opening movie with some slick stuff going on, or make it button activated. Like...when you click on something, an action happens. But don't just have random busy-ness going on at any given point.

Also, I think the colors are quite the eyesoar. I noticed your last page had the same basic colors as well. Red, lime green, and B&W are a terrible combination....and just scream unprofessional.

Try experimenting with a background color besides black, then move in THAT direction with your icons.

Just my 2 cents.

I like sites that you do not have to scrole down only in frames already in the main page but that is my liking

The Flash is not what is wrong imho it think what is wrong is the lack of Design in the page it just looks like it was tossed together in one day.... Looks Newbish like many people have said already.

the only thing i like are the flash numbers in the background besides that it needs work. and the numbers thing could be put to better use and I would only use them in one area... of the page just for graphical coolness but that is it really...

Rogelio- you got me dude but It wasn't 1 day it was like 2-3......the animations and buttons were done at 3 oclock in the morning the night before it was due.

Edible-I hear what you are saying but it does seem like some people do tend to not love flash or say it is not necessary. Even on my last post the replies about using or not using flash were a little or mabee a lot on the negative.

Dusty-I think that I have a tendence to like eye-sore colors. I mean I didn't just pick those colors out of the blue or red maybee green???
At first I'm thinking that it is because I am a Simon Bisley fan (lot's for vibrant greens and clashing purples in the Verotic stuff) but the more I thought about it...I'm thinking it must have been that time I spent designing package labels.
It seems that people love loud clashing colors when purchasing cleaning supplies. In fact if you can't read the label from across the room some marketting guy will come to your desk and slap you across the face with a bottle of Frank's Hot Sauce then wrap you mouse cord around your neck until the next coffe break.....

So what do do now........I guess it's back to the drawing board.
