Ok, here's my very first slog at digital rendering. Well, we did a couple of little exercises in class but they were such TRAGIC things i'm going to ignore they ever happened.
Anyway, this assignment was to pick out a magazine cover, trace the figure, scan in the line art (mine was HELL dodgey, made it hard for me), then save selections and render in PS (I have 5.5).
Then we had to import the ps image into Freehand and add all the little extras - text, bar code etc etc.
So here's the digital rendering first. I could have spent more time on it. You can still see the line art in her lashes (she has clumpy mascara ok!), and the line art around her chin and on her jumper. Her ear is fuzzy because in the original image it was out of focus, same with the bottom and outside of her jumper. Also, her lips look like they're floating above her face.
anyway, the purpose of the assignment was to just learn how to render something so that you can show your client what the final outcome will look like.
And second of all is the freehand doc with the added extras (freehand made the colours go whack tho...but that's not how it will print so it's all good).
feedback MOST welcome!
oh, and for some reason she's a little paler than she should be in the first image...and of course too orange in the FH image
THANKS! HOPE YOU LIKE ![](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

surely you'd know what rendering means?
rendering - filling in colour and shade and light etc!
ear, yes...look funny...you'd need to see the original photo. Besides, the way it looks in the Freehand doc is not how it would look printed, so ignore it....excpet for all the text etc. |
