dizzypope: yes and no. my second clown in this thread was painted over a scanned scetch, the rest are done without one. Usually I just start painting from scratch or perhaps make a very delicate scetch and start working from thereof. but does that really make a difference?? I think it's the end result that counts.

I never scan anything... in that case i did a rough sketch of what i'm going to draw but i never planned to leave those lines. I made a silhouette of the clown on a new layer. Opacity preserved on clown silhouette and that's it... i deleted the sketch layer.

But sometimes i do everything on one layer

palladia mors ' = It doesn't matter you
are right. I was really just curious as
to how skilled you were at painting.
I would guess that youv'e studied for
a very long time.

m703-324= That is the most bizzare
method that I've ever seen. Why in
the world would you do that. The
silhouette (or however it's spelled)
relates to forms within the silhouetted
shape. Now you have to guess what
makes this bumb on the silhouette edge
or what makes that corner on the
silhouette edge.

You both are incredible. I guess what
it comes down to is know your proportions
and know your perspective.

thank you both for your time.

I really mean that.
